What's in your closet? And, how do you shop?

I went in to hang up two dresses I bought the other day (I've been loving dresses lately) and it occurred to me that I seem to have a lot of them. I counted = 18 dresses! Then I looked through my other clothes and got the following numbers : 25 pairs of shoes (including flip-flops;half of them I hardly ever wear), 8 pairs of jeans (also 1 pair of jean capris & 1 pair of jean shorts, so 10?), and probably 40ish tops including Tshirts. Is that average for girly girls, or should I look into a therapist haha? Yes, I think I have a shopping addiction lol. I've been working on sticking to a budget, and I'm doing better the past month or two. Sometimes I go in cycles - for a few months I spend quite a lot and then I may not buy much at all for a few months. It's also hard bc I'm addicted to off-price stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Ross, so it's easy to say, "Oh that's cheap for a gorgeous (insert brand;BCBG, Roxy, whatever) dress (top, jeans, whatever)." And it is cheap. But several things like that can add up in a month.

I'm just wondering, what are your closet's "numbers"? What's your weakness when you're in a store (shoes, jeans, handbags, etc)? And what's your strategy for spending wisely, avoiding impulse buys, and sticking to a shopping limit? I think it will be interesting to hear everybody's thoughts - and who doesn't like to talk shopping! :)

Not that much! I lost a bunch of weight my senior year of high school, so many of my favorite dresses were a size 6 or 8 and no longer fit. Right now I have about 8 dresses, four pairs of jeans, five skirts, seven or eight cardigans, five or six sweaters, countless tanks and camis, and a few tee shirts. Plus my wedding dress. :)

I've had a really hard time keeping my wardrobe full. Unfortunately a lot of what I do is hard on clothes. I ride horses, which means my jeans tend to get holes in them. I help out at FSIL's cat rescue, so I just lost my favorite cardigan to a bleach stain. It sucks! And work clothes are usually not an option because I only help out when I'm working a shift, so I need to have an outfit that can do both.

Someday, I'll have enough to buy more basics at the stores I love (Barney's, J. Crew, Anthro, Cusp) but for now I have a lot of Express, American Eagle, Gap, and then some statement pieces from Anthro and J. Crew.

    I have 4 closets. Full.

Probably 10 pairs of jeans, 30-40 dresses, 50 tops. At one point I had 200 pair of shoes, but it is probably down to 50 now.

Thank God someone has a stash like I do!  I have 132 pairs of shoes- each pair in their own "cubby" assembled by Mr Shunned......You think he'd have learned his lesson???  Nope!  He put purse hooks on the door- so I filled them- with 27 Coach purses!!  Next on the dream closet remodel?- Peg boards to display 62 necklaces- 1/4 of which I made myself!  18 dresses, 23 pairs of jeans, 11 cardigans. 28 sweaters, 7 North Face fleeces, 16 skirts, 14 pairs of shorts and a zillion shirts- all organized by sleeve length and color.  EEK EEK EEK!  We won't even talk about tanks and camis!  BUT- IN MY DEFENSE-  I love shopping and so does Mr Shunned so this is an activitywe do together- he even holds one of my 27 purses while I'm in the fitting room!  hahahah

I think that as long as you have a practical budget and stick to it, then you should also have fun!  I also loooooove Marshalls and we have a fantastic outlet mall 30 mins from our home so I hardly EVER pay full pricefor anything!   Lately, I feel as if everything I've purchased has been wedding related- I think a little retail therapy might be in order this weekend!!  Happy shopping ladies!

I rarely buy anything that's not on clearance or heavily on sale. The vast majority of my clothes and shoes were less than $20. My rehearsal dinner/afterparty dress was a splurge at $50-odd bucks. I'm probably on the ridiculous end of frugal....then again, I get away with wearing jeans, hoodies, and flip-flops to work!

I have a few dresses but it's rare that I have an occasion to wear them. I do have a little black dress...and it was around $5. I can sniff out a bargain like you wouldn't believe.

My problem right now is that I've lost 25 lbs and 1-2 pants sizes in the past year. All my pants and jeans are falling off of me....and with this wedding, I don't have the money for new clothes shopping! I was going to go casual and wear jeans in my e-pics, but I'm wearing a dress because I'm afraid any of my jeans would look baggy and sloppy. (But I don't care if that's how I look in normal life. LOL.)

Oh my. I have a lot of clothes even though I throw out/give away a lot every year. These are approxamite numbers: Jeans: 15, Shorts/bottoms: 20, Tshirts: 50, Tops: 40, Tank Tops: 30, Dresses: 25  Jackets/Coats/Sweaters: 20, Shoes: 35.

I haven't really changed size since high school (and embarrassing fact, I can fit into some stuff from elementary/middle school!) but most of these clothes are fairly new (1-2 years old).

I shop mostly at Norstroms and Macy's and Lucky Bran Jeans, but I also pop into Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Metro Park. For cheapie clothes I like Target and Hollister :)
