I have a “long, lean and flowy” sort of dress, so I thought I’d be wearing thigh-sucking spanx or one of those shaping slips, but I tried on my dress again the other day (to match shoes) and turns out I don’t absolutely have to do this. It’s just large enough that reinging them in isn’t neccessary.
I also realized my dress is very, very warm. It’s not even heavy, but it’s poly chiffon and that poly is not so breatheable.
The wedding is in summer, without A/C! So I’m happy I don’t *have* to wear long shorts or another suckingin layer, however, I was wondering if it may actually be more comfortable to do so? What’s going to be most comfy under a not-so-breathable layer of silky poly – as little as possible, or more substantial shorts to protect against uh, sweatiness…?

@lazy: Mmm guess everyone’s different. Personally I’d go for less is best policy

does your dress cut in at the waist? Mine did and I absolutely needed something between my dress and my skin – but mine was a heavy ball gown – i ended up wearing just underware and control top panty hose and that was fine. If your dress doesn’t cut in then i’d just wear underware and a bra if needed.

Im unsure about underwear too. i was thinking less. maybe thin cotton ivory bra and matching thong. only thing im not sure about is i dont wanna get a wedgy, lol . sorry TMI! i think i may wear comfy little shorts that wont ride up then change later!.
I originally bough a pretty silk set but the bra was too slippy and felt like the dress would move.

@lazy: I say if you don’t absolutely need to…don’t do it. Spanx are fabulous but really uncomfortable for me since I hate being restricted around my legs if I can help it. Plus, it’s really hot since it traps in that body heat.
BUT they do make moisture-wicking Spanx that actually might help keep you cooler and drier. You should check these out if you’re afraid of butt-sweat lines (oh yes…I went there) 😉
