just_another_dandelion: What is she into?
Call the Midwife is a WONDERFUL and heartwarming show. It’s a bit slower paced sort of like Downton Abbey but my friends and I love it–we’re in our 20’s. And my mom loves it too, so I think it can be a great show across generations. The Paradise seems to be a similar show that is on my queue but I have not watched yet.
How I Met Your Mother was a GREAT show, especially in the first few seasons. My BF and I watched it all the way through on Netflix over the course of a few months.
Each episode of Annika Bengtzon: Crime Reporter is a bit more like a movie than a show and it’s not in English (you can read subtitles), but it’s good. My BF and I also have enjoyed Sherlock and Luther. I watched through all of MI-5 at one point and thought it was a pretty good show. I also enjoyed The Bletchley Circle. The Returned is another foreign series that I’ve started watching. It has a supernatural basis and it’s quite interesting.
I like supernatural shows, so I also watch things like: Supernatural, Haven, Vampire Diaries, and Witches of East End, and American Horror Story.
If she’s politically inclined, maybe she’d enjoy The West Wing. It’s pretty classic.
I also enjoy The Mind of a Chef, as well as lots of documentaries and nature movies: Jiro Dreams of Sushi, The Life of Mammals, The Blue Planet, Happy, Half the Sky.
Random movie recommendations: Roman Holiday, Charade, Romantics Anonymous, The Artist, Hugo, The Women on the 6th Floor, The Lorax, The Intouchables, Under the Tuscan Sun, Biutiful, Life is Beautiful, Cinema Paradiso, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Funny Face, The Well-Digger’s Daughter, The English Patient.
AB Bride: The ones I have listed aren’t bad. There are a lot of bad ones, but there are good ones too. Netflix even has some popular ones like Wold War Z, The Avengers, and Silver Linings Playbook. The movies might not all be the newest releases, but there are good ones.
peachacid: I do sometimes. Most of what my mom watches on Netflix are movies.
