I'm not from DC, but we have similar things. We have my bouquet, 4 BM, 4 GM, 1 groom, 3 moms, 2 dads, 2 GPas and 3 GMAs.
We are spending just under $500, so depending on your floral choice, you should be just fine :)
I got my flowers from Costco. You can definitely do that for under $500. I got the 20 piece collection and it was perfect for us. I was able to call them up and arrange for substitutions (didn't need a centerpiece, but needed an extra bm bouquet, etc). 20 pieces was actually too much, but I just used the extras for decoration around the cake stand and gift table. They ship to you 2 days before the wedding. The only thing is you need to arrange for the flowers go get to the venue. After getting my hair and makeup, two of my BMs came with me back to my place and we picked up all the flowers. It was fine for me since it was on the way for us, but you might want to delegate that out if you can.
My box came a little dented though, and as a result some of the flowers were bruised. The company called a few hours after I received the flowers to see if everything was okay, unfortunately, I missed that call. I have a feeling if I let them know, they would have given me a discount, or shipped more flowers. But it was fine. My venue was pretty dark (Torpedo Factory) and no one could see the bruised flowers.

You can find beautiful flowers for $500! I received several quotes and the prices were all over the map... it helps to shop around. Some of the highly recommended florists in the area have a minimum order. (I didn't need $1,500 worth of flowers!) The total for my bouquet, boutonnieres, and corsages was about $500, and I chose expensive blooms -- peonies!
I'm also doing just personal flowers (a small, cheap bridal bouqet, 3 bridesmaids bouqets, 4 boutionners, something small for 2 flower girls, and two arangements to put near us during the ceremony.)
I've gotten a couple of quotes around $800 and $900.
Mrs. Pomegranate, who did you use?
I am hoping to spend $750 on 10 centerpieces and 1 small bridal bouquet. any chance this is possibe? My florist is known for workign with budgets but i haven't met with her yet. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
My flowers were from DaVinci Florist in Silver Spring, MD. They were great to work with and the best price I found.
I had very specific flowers in mind. I really wanted pale pink peonies for my bouquet and deep fuscia peonies for the bridesmaids. I asked another florist to quote this and they said peonies were too expensive and suggested roses in the same colors. The quote with roses was twice the price of DaVinci's quote with peonies!! I had a lot of other unusual requests and DaVinci's made it all work. I was amazed when I saw the flowers for the first time... everything turned out even better than I expected! I didn't have a large budget for flowers because I didn't think it was that important to me. In the end, the flowers were one of my favorite things about the wedding!
i think the key issue is WHAT flowers you want - if you are realistic about what you want verus what you want/can spend you can do it =) I also used costco and a florist and they all turned out very well and elegant. good luck!
Hi all,
I am doing all local organic flowers and my florist is amazing!!!!!!! Masons in Gaithersburg MD is by far one of the most reasonable florist prices I recieved. She works with all local farmers in MD. Definatley worth a trip or a phone call.
I'm getting married in NOVA... we just finalized our florist and are sitting at $1200... but that's for EVERYTHING. From the breakdowns I got from the 2 florists we visited, $500 should be doable :-)
I got quotes (for the exact same things) ranging from $5000 to $500. I thought that was a ridiculous range, and ultimately I went with the florist who most understood my vision. She happened to be one of the more inexpensive, but the most accommodating. She's letting me use blooms from my garden (peonies!), and together we're tailoring the vision to meet the budget without compromising on the look!
Thanks all! I ended up going with GreenWorks in DC. I got the recommendation from my venue coordinator. I'm getting my bouquet, three BM bouquets, two corsages (possibly more if my grandmothers can make it) and 8 boutennieres, for a total of $730. It was slightly more than I wanted to pay but I also felt like they would do great work, and they have worked with my venue (which is pretty new).

Hey DC brides. I want to know a realistic ballpark figure for wedding flowers. To keep expenses down, we are only ordering personal flowers -- my bouquet, three BM bouquets, five boutonnieres (one a little fancier for the groom), and at least four corsages (possibly up to seven or eight). I'm not doing floral centerpieces or any other floral decor. Am I delusional for thinking I could do all that for around $500?
Thanks all!
