This is a word so commonly used and shunned on the 'bee.  Wondering what 'tacky' means to you?  Disclaimer:  If you tend to take things personally from people you have never met, you should probably back out of this post slowly...

This is NOT meant to hurt anyone, just to get a laugh while sitting bored at work.  I'll go first...

Pnina Tornei dresses you can see through:

Well, naturally the post from this morning about asking for cash gifts is still in my mind. I think telling guests what to buy for you is tacky.

Ooo I do not care for the see-thru dresses. Some people would have called our wedding reception "tacky" because we had a Nintendo theme... I loved it, and we were careful not to let it get carried away!

I've also heard people say that registering for DVD's or Video Games is tacky, when the bride/groom already have a house.

personally, TACKY is not the word for that dress. UGLY is the word I would choose. Lol.

I call Pennsylvania beautifully tacky.  Fake plastic grass on peoples porches - weird, but at the same time it's got it's own little charm to it.

Drunken maid of honor/best man speeches that only roast the bride and groom...without ever transitioning to the nice, we are so happy for you, part of the toast.

I know that a lot of brides do it, but I think flip-flops are tacky. I bride shouldn't have a piece of foam strapped to her foot when saying I do.  That's just me though.

@mwitter80: I agree with you. Why spend upwards of a thousand dollars on a dress only to wear it with flip flops!?!

And yes, plastic things on porches is definitely tacky to me!

    Things that I have seen:

-Bride in a tea length or shorter dress sitting like a man. TACKY!
    -red plastic cups. TACKY!
-Bride or groom drunk during the ceremony.
-Bestman screaming out during the ceremony, "SHE'S A WHORE!"

We had some tackiness occur at our wedding, thankfully I learned about it only after...

My SIL (she's lovely, read about her in my other posts, ugh) decided to rent a limo bus to arrive in with some other family members... so that they could get sh*tfaced on the way down to the ceremony... sorry that our wedding is THAT bad that you have to be drunk to tolerate it...

I saw the pictures on her cousin's facebook page, where they're all drinking out of red SOLO cups and holding up the nearly empty bottle of Grey Goose vodka that they opened when they left their house... it was a 1hr drive... yes, they housed a bottle of vodka in under an hour.

Then the limo bus parked off to the side of the ceremony where the shuttles that we had arranged for guests at the hotel were parked... immediately following our 10 minute ceremony, SIL and her boyfriend and the other limo bus passengers ran back over to the bus to continue their drinking. They brought their SOLO cups outside of the bus into the park... when my husband gathered his sister for family photos, the other limo passengers continued to drink outside the bus and SIL decided to give them all the middle finger since she couldn't drink with them during the photos.

The funny thing was, many of our guests commented on how nice it was of us to get a limo bus for our bridal party... which our response was "oh... no... that's not for the bridal party, SIL rented it so she could arrive in style and drink." TACKY.

@futureMrs.L: I completely agree with you!

I don't think flip flops are bad for late into the recepetion but it is tacky to hear her flip floping down the aisle unless the ceremony is taking place on the beach.

This post is amusing! I would definitely have to agree with that dress being tacky! When I see people on SYTD try it on I just want to DIE.

My grandparents live in an old town south of Pittsburg, fake grass was all over there.  Then I was awhile in South Central PA and saw it again, never really seen it anywhere else.

My favorite "tacky" wedding memory was a drunken best man speech...."he already knocked her up and is stuck with her forever so I don't know why he is doing this..."
