I feel like ours were a bit higher ($20pp) for all of the venues/caterers we looked at

I think it really depends on the area.  We are looking at the Rocky mountains and the best we have found is $30pp. And even that seems expensive.  The average around there seems to be around$50pp.

Wow! You guys are really making me feel like we overpaid! Our caterer is $50 per person for a buffet. But I guess it’s not so bad because that also includes beer and wine.

Ours is $41/pp for food…. with rentals and service it comes to almost $80/pp.  This includes a bartender, but we need to supply the booze.  Oh, Bergen county…

We’re paying around $13 per person. This is with a bartender. We are paying for our own alcohol

In rural Michigan the average was about $17 per person for a very cost effective dinner buffet.

My husband & I catered our evening wedding for $8.50pp using the lunch buffet at one of our favorite restaurants. Our catering cost included the meal, choice of drink, and sheet cake. We opted out of a traditional wedding cake and instead used a small circle cake provided with our catering package, and with our savings we were able to have an open bar 🙂

Our caterer had packages starting at around $14/person. The package we chose was $25/person for buffet.

But it will depend on the area where you live.

Here in the Bay Area, I’ve found buffets through reputable caterers for 45 pp which seems like a deal here…elsewhere not so much…

Québec depending on the type of buffet you want (cold with basic sandwiches and veggies) would be around 20/pp txes included, otherwise for more elaborate and more ”banquet” like, we’re talking 35-40-50/pp (txes included).
