Hi Bees! I have a bunch of ideas for bridesmaid gifts, but would love to hear what you gave, plan to give, or have received! I recently sent my bridesmaids a little survey asking for their favorite colors, patterns, etc. As well as preferences such as blingy or pearly, clutch or tote, etc. I told them to have fun with it and not read into any of the questions since some were just there to throw them off! Now that I have this information, I have to decide what to do with it!

I know there have been similar posts in the past, but there are always new ideas floating around out there!! Feel free to post photos and the amount you spent on your bridesmaids since I'm curious about that as well!

    Thanks ladies!

The best bridesmaid gift (OK, the only bridesmaid gift) I've ever received was actually initially a bit of a mixup. She's a jeweler, and she gave us all beautiful gold earrings that were tiny discs with our monogrammed initials on them. Only problem is...I don't have pierced ears. But! She remade them into a necklace charm (one and a back up) for me, and I wear it ALL the time, especially now that I have a yellow gold ring. It's small and classy, but it is REALLY shiny, and makes work outfits look really nice. :-) Anyway, I'm taking her lead and giving my ladies initial necklaces with a tiny gemstone and pearl charm added as well. I'm sure that your gifts will be lovely!

I'm planning on getting my bridesmaids those silky kimono robes from Victoria's Secret. I've always wanted one and it's my excuse to buy one for myself too! haha

@mexicanabeibi: Robes are one of my top choices! However, I haven't decided between kimono or waffle. Thanks for your input!

I've have never got a BM gift that I really liked. At all. For my one girlfriends wedding, she just got us the jewelry and it was red and crystal and pretty ugly. I never wear it, in fact I don't even think I have it any longer. Then my cousin got us Coach wristlets which is super sweet, but I never use it. And we had to pay for our own jewelry, hair, and make up and as had to pay $235 for our dresses so I felt sort of shafted, I guess?Like the gift wasn't enough for all we had to do for her wedding. That may sound bratty, but it's the truth.

I already bought my BM's their jewelry. It's sterling silver earrings and necklace with little white gemstones, it's so pretty and dainty. I got them teal make up bags to match my wedding color and they have Bath and Body Works travel spray, body lotion, and shower gel. And then I just ordered them all white TOMS for the reception! I will probably still get them a each something small that I think they would like. I found a journal and the cover is an old Vogue cover form the '60's that I know my MOH would love.

I think it's hard. Because everyone's taste is so different. As long as your girls love them that's all that matter. I put SO much thought into my gifts but I highly doubt they still use them.

Like I would LOVE a coach wristlet but I know my MOH would have hate that and my other two have WAY more expensive bags I can afford...LVs so Coach wristlet is pointless for them!

@regberadaisy: Really good point, everyone is different! That's part of the reason I sent out the fun little survey and I'm actually thinking I might not give everyone the same gifts. I think this works as long as I spend the same on each girl. I believe this might even be more personal and meaningful. Anyone have thoughts on this?

None of my BM are getting the same thing. 1 is getting a bikini of her favorite sports team. 1 is getting a shopping gift card and 1 specifically requested no gift and to use the money towards her makeup.

None of them are getting hair and makeup by me, and they're not required to if they don't want it.

I've never been a bridesmaid, but I'm getting my girls necklaces from etsy. They'll all be different styles and hopefully each one's taste!

For the weddings I've been in, I got jewelry and bath and body works stuff. For my wedding, I gave each of my girls a necklace and earrings for the wedding from Etsy, bath and body works lotion and body wash. I also paid for nails, hair, and for one to get her eye makeup done (she really wanted it). Oh, and I bought their shoes.

A friend gave us all a pearl necklace. I've been able to use it a lot since. Every woman needs a good string of pearls.

I gave them each a cotton robe, which we wore the morning of the wedding. I also gave each one a different piece of jewelry from Kate Spade that I thought matched their taste. The jewelry actually wasn't that expensive, like $35-45 for each piece! I have seen all of my bridesmaids wear the jewelry since the wedding, so I know they liked it. :) Plus it came in a super cute box.

@Krostom: & @mexicanabeibi: I got my silky robe from Fredricks and I was so excited when I got it, but now its just a decoration on the back of my bathroom door; drives me insane, its so silky it doesn't stay on!! I'd consider other materials ex. Cotton, Plush? Just MY opinion though. Best of luck!

@village_skeptic: would you mind my asking where your getting your girls' necklaces? I love the pearl and initial idea! I think every lady needs at least ONE pearl in her life!

So far for my girls I've gotten them each a red Cardigan to wear pre & post ceremony & the DVD Bridesmaids, want to make them each a little goodie basket, so definitely watching this thread for ideas! =)

The last wedding I was in, the bride got us each a Coach wristlet in a color/pattern she thought we would like/suit us. I love it.

I am getting my bridesmaids matching necklaces with their initials. I may use each of their birthstone for the gem, or choose one that matches their dress (they are wearing 5 different color bright jewel tone dresses). Here is an example:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/62524331/custom-name-necklace-with-crystal

I'm also debating over this necklace too:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/62524331/custom-name-necklace-with-crystal

I like gifts that are a little personal, that the bride has put some thought into. I prersonally wouldn't be super thrilled if I received a gift that ONLY had to do with the wedding, or that had the bride and groom's inital on it or something.

Best gift I've been given is cute jewelry that I can wear again.

I never thought to branch outside of the wedding jewelry realm until I joined the Bee. But I love the idea. I really want them to feel special for being a bridesmaid. I love these girls!

I'm giving them plum pretty robes... http://store.plumprettysugar.com/cotton-voile-robes/

Umbrellas (it might rain on my wedding day) I think these look like peonies, and I know all of my girls will love these umbrellas... http://www.distinctive-decor.com/gerbera-daisy-designer-rain-umbrella.html

    Pashminas

And I'm a jeweler, so I'm making them all jewelry sets of their favorite colors and that'll match their styles. They can wear them on the wedding day, if they want to.

I have a friend who's an avid sewer, so I'll ask her to make everyone bags.

    And, we're doing their hair.

And, we're paying for the hotel rooms the night before the wedding. And there will be champagne in there! Mmmmmm....

We thought about buying their dresses, but I worked really hard finding pretty dresses, that are also affordable, that they all love, and are able to wear again (they aren't floor length). After being a BM 5 times, I'm soooo happy about that! It's a normal expense that comes along with being a bridesmaid, so I'm spoiling them in other ways.

@junehearts: YES!! LOVE IT! I need to start a list of all the great ideas you ladies are providing!

@CupCakeMeg: I like the idea of a goodie basket too! I think it's fun to get a few different things!

Im making my girls tote bags filled with goodies. I had them printed at Vistaprint with the girls names. I'm getting the help of one of my bridesmaids. She is a hair dresser and so at the holidays she can get a lot of high class products at cost. I gave her 150 and told her to do what she can. I am also giving each girl a strand of pearls to wear the day of. Im sure I will keeo adding I have 8 more months.

I think bridesmaid gifts are really hard and I have agonized over what to get my BMs. I ultimately decided that since the wedding is in January I would give them cozy things. Each bridesmaid will recieve a pair of fuzzy socks, a set of stacking mugs from Pier One, some tea, a grey pashmina-like shawl, a flower umbrella, and an LL Bean tote bag. I'm trying to make the gifts somewhat original. There are a variety of mugs and each umbrella and sock set is different.

As a bridesmaid I liked all the gifts I recieved no matter how big or small because I knew that the brides put thought into them. At one wedding I recieved a beautiful handmade apron as well as a shawl (this wedding paid for my dress as well). At another we went to a jewelry store with the bride and picked out a piece of jewelry of our choice and at a third wedding I recieved a crystal bracelet and stunning hairclips. All were wonderful.

My bridesmaids' tastes are all so different so I think I'll be giving each girl a day at the spa the day after the wedding. I'm sure we can all enjoy a day of relaxation after thenchaos of the wedding.

I have bought my bridesmaids a personalised silver trinket box , they are really pretty, and inside is a silver sixpence.

I didnt go overboard because here in UK  its traditional for the bride to buy the bridesmaids dresses,  which i have.....and i have also bought their jewellery and shoes.  so none of my bridesmaids have had to bear the cost of anything at all.   so a small gift is acceptable in those circumstances.  if the bridesmaids had bought their own dresses,  then i would have bought them bigger presents.

i got all of my girls coach wristlets. I know for a fact all but one use them. Like all the time. Actually, I went bridesmaid dress shopping with my one BM who is getting married and she had hers!! I know they all really appreciated that. I had 6 girls. So I went to the outlet store with a 30% coupon. I think I spend $35 on each one.

I also got them a pound of gourmet fudge.

I also got them something little that was personal to them. For example, my one BM loves the precious moments statuettes, so I got her a precious moment of a bridesmaid. They LOVED the gifts (at least I think they did :-/)

@CupCakeMeg: I'm so sorry for the delayed reply! I'm actually making them, kind of. I bought the engraved initial discs from MayaBelle on Etsy, because I had a Heartsy voucher there. But there are all sorts of folks that sell the little disc charms. I also considered the seller BriguysGirls, and she sells necklaces very similar to what I'm going for. I'm going to buy goldfill wire and a few freshwater pearls and briolettes and make the pearl and gemstone charms then. I'm knocking on wood that they come out as I want them to, but I made a mockup and am happy with it so far. :-) Hope this was helpful!

...and also, yes, just a friendly reminder that sharing your prescriptions with people is illegal, folks. Be safe and legal, fellow Bees!

I bought each of my bridesmaids really nice pearl studs. Because all my bridesmaids are flying in for my wedding, I'm also paying for their dresses, shoes, accessories, hair and makeup, and it's because I really, really want to. I made sure my budget had plenty of room for it. I think it's a privelege for me to be able to do this for them since they honor me with their friendship. :-) My fiance and I are taking the attitude that while the wedding is about our relationship, it's an opportunity for us to treat and feed our guests really well.

The best present that I have recieved was a set of Pearl earrings and a necklace (they were really special because they were all similar but different to suit our tastes) AND the night before the wedding the bride and groom took the whole wedding party to a music festival and saw Guster, Jason Mraz, and Maroon 5 play!
