So I’ve been seeing bees warning against mineral makeup for the wedding day and I wondered what’s the best foundatin to wear? I typically wear either bare minerals or L’oreal True Match mineral make up because I’m pretty oily and powder usually works better for me. What do you guys think? Is liquid the way to go even if you’re oily? Or is there a powder foundation that has great coverage but isn’t mineral? Help! Educate me!! Share pics!

I really liked Perfekt foundation and used laura mercier transulent powder to stop from looking oily.

Have you tried photographing it under different lights/ flashes? A lot of salons and spas that do bridal makeup use mineral products. I think Bare Minerals does have a tendency to look shiny (or dewy, as they put it) under certain lights. I honestly think it’s only an issue with candids taken with cellphones and point and shoot cameras that have a blinding flash, though. Professional photogs use different flashes, filters, etc that won’t cause a glare off your face if you wear minerals. I used a high def/ silica powder and a mineral concealer over my foundation for my engagement pics (which is supposedly a bridal photography no-no) and my face looks completely matte in all the pics. My skin is on the drier side though, so shine isn’t really an issue for me.
If you’re worried about shininess from oily skin, I’d go with a silicone-based primer and an oil-free, sunscreen-free liquid foundation. If you need a matte powder, L’Oreal TrueMatch pressed powder is a good inexpensive one that doesn’t photograph dry or ashy.

I went with Makeup Forever’s HD line, and I was really happy with it. I would do a liquid, because it will give you better coverage.

I went to Sephora because I wanted some good makeup for my e-pics, and the woman put some Makeup Forever HD invisible cover foundation on me and I was sold. It provided really good coverage but didn’t feel heavy, and my face looked sooo nice! I also got the Smashbox primer to go with it. The woman said to definitely use these two together for a flawless photo finish. She said if I was oily (which I’m not, my skin is actually rather dry) there is a finishing powder by Makeup Forever that I should also use. The stuff has pretty good reviews on Sephora’s website, and I know it’s pricey, but maybe check it out!

I used Smashbox Photofinish and was SOOO happy… combined with Monistat Chaffing Gel as a primer and MUFE HD finishing powder (lightly on top)… My make up stuck ALL day and I didn’t need any touchs up =)
I used to wear Bare Minerals for day to day, so I didn’t want ANYTHING heavy.

I would highly recommend Chanel Mat Lumiere. High end but lasts amazingly and doesn’t go shiny.

I sometimes have oily skin, and I get my makeup profesionally done a lot and I usually use MAC Studio Fix (the fluid or the powder, I like the fluid better though) or Studio Tech

Thanks everybody! These are awesome options! I will do a little shopping and see what works best for my skin. I usually use my L’oreal stuff but I feel like I have to constantly reapply and I don’t want to have to do that for my wedding day! THANKS!! 🙂
