What's the deal with all the owl jewelry?

    A nice, light subject now... This is kind of random and not directly wedding-related, but... I was out shopping this evening and noticed that a lot of the inexpensive jewelry out there right now is owl-bedecked. Owl necklaces, owl earrings, owl rings... at various stores with variously-sized owls and variously-colored owls... Owls are super cute and have a reputation for intelligence and all. But does this have any hidden meaning? What is the deal with all the owls?

    Haha. Are you serious?! I must have missed the memo. Surprised I haven't the slightest idea, it's probably just another new trend...that I had no clue about. lol.

    lol I have noticed all of the owls out there as well! I don't know if there is any secret meaning behind it all besides just them being cute though

    Hmm..I don't think I have noticed and owl jewlery, but I love owls!

    It could possibly because they are coming out with a new movie with owls in it and this is their way to try to capitolize on it!

    I know, right? It's hilarious! I got an owl necklace just because the little owl was so cute, but as I went to other stores, I started to notice this invasion of the owls! Crazy. If you love owls, then you should totally check out the costume jewelry that's in right now, WendyS328, because you could definitely stock up on some cute owl accessories! :) I have noticed some Alice in Wonderland themed jewelry to go along with that movie... What is the owl movie that's coming out?

    Yeah I've been seeing this for a while and I'm not sure why it started so suddenly. I have an owl pendant that my mother bought me...it's really cute! I'd buy more because I think the little owls are adorable. There are tons of them all over modcloth.com.

    Two sororities that I know of have owls as their symbol, so I know Kappas and Chi O's buy tons of owl jewelry :) I love to have the greater selection in owls now! And they're super cute!

    @whiteorchid...I know what you mean about the sororities, I was thinking the same thing. I am a Delta Gamma alum and a few years ago all the anchor jewelry was SO in and it is back again and all the DGs love it ;)

    One of the local colleges near me has a mascot of the owls.  lol.  But other than that I can't think of any symbolism.  My grandma LOVED owls, so I tend to have a slight affinity for them as well.

    Hmmm, I am not a fan of wearing owls, but to each his own!

    Owls were all over the place about a year ago. I only know this because there was a post on the Counterfeit Chic blog about Kelly Bensimon (Sp?) from Real Housewives and how she supposedly knocked off some designer's design for her own jewelry line. Not sure who started the trend though.

    I have a vintage owl pin and a pair of teeny tiny owl earrings. I just like them because they're cute and quirky.

    This is going to sound totally random, but you know what I wish I could find more of? Nice, non-"trinket"-looking, non-corny elephant jewelry. I love elephants. They're the sweetest creatures, they remember other elephants they've been friends with when they meet them again, and they can paint! ;) I have been pleasantly surprised to see a few out there lately, but I really only like the ones where the elephants aren't wearing any "saddles" or anything... makes me happier thinking of them roaming free. :)

    I think owls are intertwined with the bird fad going on. But they're all (well, most of them) cute, so I have no complaints!

    @AnneNM82 - Try Ebay! :)

    It's because owls are awesome! But I'm clearly biased ;) My alma mater's mascot is the owl, and I actually was the mascot for awhile as an undergrad.
