There are a couple things, but mostly the fact that in everything we've booked so far, we've been able to get some sort of discount. Our venue regularly does not allow ceremonies to be held there, but since we're allowing them to use that room for the public after we're done, they decided it would be okay (it's at a golf club.) They usually have a $15,000 minimum to rent all 3 rooms, but we got it for $5000. Our photographer gave us $500 off, and my dress was on sale for 50% off!!!
@Ryansgirl: oo that's the best feeling. I found my dress way under budget and I'm still so proud of myself!!
I think probably our food choices. We're having a mexican buffet and an asian buffet. So happy that my wedding will have non-wedding food!
@CorgiTales:Wow, if you love your food more than your invites, the food must be AWESOME. Because, well, your invites rule.
We're having a taco truck cater our rehearsal dinner I'm beside myself with excitement.
Getting our videographer for FREE, our cake and cupcakes for 100.00 and ALL the flowers for under 300.00!!! :)
@Baileyh: DUDE, how did you get your videography for free? That's so awesome! I need to find a way to swing that!
I'm most excited about our centerpieces. I wanted to do something different for our afternoon wedding, so we're having flowerpot centerpieces!
I am *veeeeery* early in my planning process, so what I am super excited about right now is that I put down my first deposit yesterday (for invites/std's/other paper) with an awesome stationery shop, and I *think* I may have found the perfect new undiscovered venue here in town. I got goosebumps looking at the pictures and am just hoping it turns out like I think it might!
i am most proud of my almost done invitations! they are completely diy and i am sooo excited to show you all what i have done! .... hopefully i can get them done by the end of january! :)
@Miss BBQ: CRAIGSLIST!!! They had never done a wedding before so they were just starting out and wanted to get some experience...i was their guinea pig :)
http://vimeo.com/13903051 Glad i was!!! :)
@Baileyh: WOW. Your video is so beautiful!!! Heading over to Craigslist now... lol.
For us, it was the food, music, & venue (and for me, the dress...sigh.)
@eileen marie: haha, sounds like you're pretty excited about all of it!
@baileyh: what flowers did you used. OMG...that is exactly what I want.
I'm heading over to craigslist too...lol
@CorgiTales: will your wedding be held in columbus, ohio? If yes, please give me some tips as to where I can get the mexican/chinese food and hair/makeup/ photographer..lol..I'm such a mess. I don't have anything booked yet. It's really hard because I don't even live there right now, so I can't really do anything. I've contacted a few people online, but not too impressed with their work. Thanks!
I'm most proud of our DIY chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy). Not having sewed anything for about 40 years, starting with something with eight-foot seams was a bit daunting, but I loved how it came out.

We are doing a second line from the church to the reception venue and our photo booth.
I'm so proud of how my DIY shoe clips came out! I know it's a small thing, but every time I see them I swoon!
@Guava: i dont know!!! but i can find out for you :) I just told her i want white, with green and bits of purple...this is what i got the day of the wedding! Maybe some of the brides here can help?
I know white roses for sure...*laugh*
i am SUPER excited about my photographer. i was browsing photographers online who do destination weddings and of course they don't list their prices. so this one i found whose blog pics i LOVED way more than anyone else's i emailed to see how much she cost, but simply knowing she would be out my budget. my photog budget was $1500 and so i figured i was going to have to go with a local photographer in Jamaica.
so of course she writes back and says her package is $2500 (not including album) AND i would have to pay for her travel.......BUT here is where it gets exciting. she was coincidentally already booked for another wedding in Jamaica the same week but different day of my wedding! so she said her travel expenses could be waived!
but i still had to tell no thanks because she was still out of my budget. she writes back: "what's your budget?". i say: "$1500." she says: "ok, i will do your wedding for $1500 since i will be in Jamaica anyway!"
i flipped out! and still can't over it. pics are super important to me, but i just knew i was going to have to settle, but guess what? i didn't settle. i got my dream photographer for MY price! talk about fate!
I'm excited so far about our decor. Is that not one thing? Okay then. Our signage. I just finished it this weekend and it looks awesome!

For me, I think it's my photographer. We cut other things back (like flowers, shoes, dress) just to afford an amazing photog and I'm super excited!
