If no one is going to use it?
I am a super wedding rookie – and haven’t attended any as an adult… but we are getting married in less than 5 weeks and our registries haven’t been touched…
It seems odd to me…
When do you normally buy a gift for a wedding you are attending? Do you mail it or bring it to the wedding?
I dont mean to be a gift grubby bride… just hoping to get some opinions so I wont stress out…

I think most people like to wait until the last minute to buy gifts. I just went to a wedding yesterday, and I didn’t get the couple a gift until a few days ago. You’ll probably see more activity on your registry the closer it gets to your wedding.

I understand what you mean! I think it’s just that people wait to go shopping. Or, in my case, whenever BBB mails out another 20% off coupon is when I see things disappear :-). Last weekend, I had a bunch of things disappear off our registry for our shower that was (at that point) three weeks away. I thought that maybe some more things would go this weekend, but nothing. The weather was beautiful, so I’m guessing people were enjoying themselves outside.
I know that I’m normally a “wait until the day of” shopper. For the last shower I attended, I went to get the gift on the Tuesday before the shower (which was on a Saturday), and I was proud of myself for going that early.
I understand where you’re coming from…I love seeing stuff go off of the registry! It’s not because I’m “gimme, gimme, gimme”, but it’s fun to imagine using it in our new home.

Most people wait until last minute, and if you didn’t have a shower, you might not get the much from your registry because a lot of people give cash. People who order a gift online or one that the store doesn’t stock will probably have it shipped to you. People who buy the gift locally may bring it.
You will see activity the week before and even after your wedding.

I usually wait until the week before the event to buy gifts, if not the night before.

I bring it to the wedding… and my registries went crazy in the week before each shower… and then in the week before the wedding – So fear not! 🙂
Are you having any showers??

Thanks for all the advice guys! I had two showers (different states) and that’s all that’s been taken off our registry… So I guess we will see when we get to the reception haha! At that point I’m just hoping we don’t have a ton to drive home (725miles!!)

Totally agree with PPs! I am one of those who now waits to buy gifts until very close to the wedding. I got irritated about buying gifts too early for couples who later broke up – then never sent the gift back OR a thank you card. Yeah. That happened twice.
Don’t worry, this also may be a sign that lots of people are giving you cash or gift cards which may be even more useful to you. 🙂

I always buy something from the registry right after the wedding and have it mailed to them. I don’t like lugging a gift to the wedding, plus I like getting the couple something that others overlooked on their list.
