What's the point of buying an expensive ring to not wear it?

I wondered the same, to be honest. I LOVE my engagement ring and the man that gave it to me, of course I want to show that puppy of!

Currently I cannot, its been in the shop. Only 1.5 weeks to go!

I planned to wear my e-ring all the time, but I’m very active and it’s a cathedral setting. It was always catching on something or clicking against something. I always wear my eternity band because it’s low profile and just as sparkly.

I dont wear my ering in the house because I’m always doing stuff that would hurt/damage it. So I don’t wear it all the time to keep it nice and new looking because my FI did spend a lot of money on it. I always wear it outside of the house though.

I always joke that there’s no reason to wear it at home because everyone there already knows I’m engaged 🙂

WailFin:  Well, i treat it as a piece of fine jewelry.  He paid a lot on it, so i like to take care of it.  I have insurance on it, but i work as a critical care nurse in an ICU.  Hospital policy dictates we shouldnt wear rings for infection prevention/control.  Plus, i am so gross at the end of the shift, i dont even want to touch anything, i just want to shower with all the things my hands touch (even with gloves~!)

As for at home, I don’t see the point of wearing it around the house while im cleaning.  I dont wear it to the gym, or to bed.  I pretty much only wear it when we go out (which we do often).  My Husband’s band is from Tiffany and Co and was very expensive for me to buy (almost 3k).  He wears his to work, but he does not wear his at home either…so we both wear ours the same way.  We just treat them as fine jewelry.

I guess it sounds weird…my best friend always shakes her head because she knows i dont wear it much.  *shrug*

I don’t wear my rings to work because I wash my hands and take gloves on and off a million times per day (occasionally I will wear my wedding band if I’m not in the OR that day). Many of my patients are also lower income and I do not feel that it is appropriate to wear my e-ring, which is quite blingy/noticable. I do wear it when I run errands, go out to dinner, etc.

WailFin:  well I used to not wear it to work because my job is tough on hands and if I’m running to the grocery store or something really quickly I sometimes won’t put it on. But 99% of the time I wear it outside of the house.

We both only wears our rings when we leave the house (so, basically work from 8-5). I don’t feel the need to wear my rings 24/7 and neither does he…we know we love each other without looking at a piece of jewelry.

WailFin:  I wear mine all the time, I have an office job so work isn’t a problem. At home I only take it off if I’m handling raw meat and such.

I USED to baby it and take it off to shower, sleep, clean, etc. but not anymore! I wear it 98% of the time. I love it so much and I get sad if I forget to put it on and leave without it! (Happened like twice).
