I grew up in a town with a population under 3,000. Now I live in the town over that is about 10,000.

It would be hard to adjust to anything bigger, in the long term, for me.

Oklahoma City here — Nearly 600,000 people.

ETA: Born and raised in a tiny mining and farming town in California with a population less than 1,000.

As of 2011, just over 18,000.

The place I *work* at has a population of 5,013. <– I posted a thread the other day about how tiny the place I work is. I realize that the place I live at isn’t THAT much larger, but it does make a difference!

FI and I bought a house in our hometown with population 500. I go to school in a city with 40,000 students, let alone other residents. I really hate living in such a busy place, small towns are definitely more my style. I can’t even visit LA or NYC for more than a day without dying to get out lol

@Fruitypebbles193:  You will probably need more differentiation in the 100,000-1,000,000 section.

@Fruitypebbles193:  We live on the outskirts of town, closer to Moore, OK. [Moore has a population of 56,000.]

It’s definitely a shock to my system. I grew up in a very very tiny town where everybody knew everybody else. Oklahoma is, in general, nothing what I’m used to. It’s flat, wet and green. I’m used to dry, brown and lots of mountains.

If I had to choose between Oklahoma and California… I’d choose California.

Originally from a place with about 10,000 people, now I live in a city with around 70,000. During the work week it’s a little over 100,000.
