@mscuppycake:  We decided against them because:

    1)  FI thinks that pictures of the couple on Save The Dates are conceited and overdone (not that I agree, but I conceded on this one)

    2)  Extra money that we don’t have at the moment

    3)  We will be getting professional wedding photos done soon enough anyway

    4)  We have professional couples’ photos already

We will be getting engagement photos because its FUN! I love it 😀

I’m a huge fan of pro photos and it’s an excuse to get all dolled up 😀

We didn’t do engagement photos because we were trying to keep our budget within reason and because we figured we would get plenty of great photos from the wedding, so I didn’t really know what we’d do with e-photos. We did have a photo session with my husband’s brother (no photog experience whatsoever) to get a shot for our save-the-date. He basically took the same shot about 50 times and we just picked the one that looked best. I thought it turned out well and it was a hell of a lot cheaper, especially considering we only needed one picture for the save-the-date.

We had a friend do them = absolutely free. We brought my camera and memory card, to my parents house, so we could go through all 100, of the photos. We chose one to put on our StD magnets and put a few other shots on our website. We weren’t interested in paying for it to be done, or the wedding photographer who insited on doing it, so he could turn it into a slideshow, at the reception.

@mscuppycake: We weren’t interested in e-photos when we met with our photographer, but she offered them as a “freebie” on her package. To be honest, we didn’t think we’d be able to negotiate anything else in replace of the e-photo package because she’s already offering us everything we already want for the wedding, so we thought why not? We also have like, next to no photos together because we’re just not photo people, so it’ll be nice to have some professional ones that aren’t formal wedding portraits.

We didn’t get them.. we are doing save the dates but we wanted to go with ones that fit our theme.. not just our faces.

Plus to be honest, I’ve never been okay with having my picture taken!

I also really don’t see the point. I guess sometimes they are really cute, but that’s about it.

We didn’t have them done but I think it’s a good, “official” opportunity to get professional photos done. Some people don’t get pro photos between high school and getting married. I know I didn’t!

We mostly thought it was a good time to get pictures of us with tidy hair and two faces smiling at the camera.  We had a friend do them (FI took it as an excuse to buy a very nice camera, but that’s a story for another day) and they turned out great!  We have them on our website although we went with a different picture for our save the date.

@mscuppycake:  We got engagement photos since they were included in our photography package.  We found them useful in lots of ways.  Firstly, our photographer says they insist on an engagement shoot because it gives them a chance to get to know the couple, figure out what the couple is looking for, and what types of shots/angles are most flattering.  It also gave us (particularly FI) a chance to get used to having a camera on us.  It’s a little awkward but the engagement session helped us loosen up.

We also found good use for the photos – we gave them, framed, to both of our parents’ for Christmas, we used them for our STDs, and we also used them for our guest book.  Beyond that it’s just nice to have some professional pictures of us together that are more casual instead of in full wedding attire.

@mscuppycake:  we didn’t plan to do ephotos.  when we booked our photog, it was included in the package.  he said it was a way to get to know us so he could take better pictures of us at our wedding.

we loved our photog, as did all our guests.

@mscuppycake:  In our case, the photographer offered a free photoshoot (engagement or bridal) with the rights to 10 pictures. It’s a way to learn about the client. I thought all photographers offered this.

Our main purpose of engagement photos was to have pictures of us. Seriously, in the 7 years we’ve been together, we have maybe a handful of pictures of just us. I know, ridiculous. Plus, it was free, so woo!
