It's a traditional "game"...the pickle is hidden in the tree by the parents and the child to find it first gets a special gift. I'm pretty sure it originated using actual pickles. why...I know not. :)
Hmmm, I don't know exactly, though we have a Christmas pickle at our house. I know it's a German thing and my mom would hide it in the Christmas tree and whoever found the pickle would get an extra present. Don't know why a pickle though.
I heard it was good luck to find the pickle in the tree first on Christmas day.

What is the meaning of the pickle ornament for christmas trees? I keep seeing it in stores but dont know what it means!? And I figured the girls on here would know so I didnt have to look it up :)
