So last year or so undoubtedly to me was Tiffany blue. It seemed like everywhere I looked were those blue boxes! So, despite Tiffany being a beautiful color, we decided to go with the color of our favorite sports team, purple! We decided that probably in the end of 2008 (long engagement!). At that time I wasn’t seeing too much about purple but now it seems to be everywhere!! Probably because there are sooo many variations of purple so there are a lot of options.

Still, I don’t know if I’ve seen a real TREND color theme this year the way that Tiffany was last year.

Opinions?

Go with what you like. I choose Eggplant before I knew it was popular and I didn’t care. It was only used for the BM”s dresses, my garter and I had some purple flowers mixed in. Our wedding was a fall harvest theme, lots of leaves, pumpkins and apples. Go with what you like. Most of your guests won’t be attending that many weddings.

Purple is definitely on trend this year. I picked grape purple a while ago too! Unfortunately everyone in my fiance’s family on both sides has attended at least 5 weddings this fall, so they will all have seen 2-3 with my color. 🙁 Oh well!
I feel like last year brown was also a big color.. I went to three weddings with brown BM dresses.

I feel like I’m the only person who’s considering orange, haha.

Unless your guests peruse the wedding websites religiously, I’ve found that most people who will be at my wedding don’t have a clue what’s trendy in weddings right now. I’m sure you’ll be safe! 🙂

My color is lavender only because it was my fav color! And using the color worked out pretty well! I love my color scheme…lavender and beige for our beach wedding!
I’m seeing a lot of grays too! Gray and eggplant! That color scheme is gorgeous too! i wanted to incoporate gray, so we’ll be using gray on all out text!

I am an event director at a mid size hotel, and we do between 7-10 weddings a year. I haven’t noticed any “theme” for any of the weddings I have done. Maybe since I live in a rural area, nobody is that “hip” to wedding stuff! 🙂

Yes we will be going with purple no matter the trends! 🙂 I was just surprised that it actually became popular because I had some bad reactions when I told family/friends that we wanted purple…partially because we know someone else who did purple YEARS AGO and had her reception the same hotel as I am…and let’s just say she’s not well liked. I couldnt believe people even remembered the color of her wedding by now though!! lol.
jwinnings: I think orange is AWESOME!!! Hehe.

Well purple has ALWAYS been my favorite color i would have everything purple if i could get away with it lol…. so that is why i always wanted a purple wedding… it does seem to be a popular trend but i say oh well who cares.
As long as it wasnt the wedding of a immediate family memeber having pretty much the same thing before me I wouldnt worry about it

I had no idea purple was “in!” Bummer too- I wanted to do a peach and plum theme.. now I may have to think again.
@jwinnings- Orange ROCKS.. btw!

I’m doing purple and brown and only recently found out it is so trendy. Oh well!

LOL sounds like none of us actually doing purple actually found it in magazines, or anywhere showcasing the trends! That’s awesome! Purple is awesome! 🙂
Miss Yap: I TOTALLY forgot about gray, but you’re right! i remember at one point seeing a bunch of yellow and gray.
kittyachi: I’ve heard of this peacock trend and I’ve even seen a few inspiration boards of peacock and….purple! haha
The other family member before me who had purple is kinda a mean person to not go into too much detail.. and whenever I said we were doing purple, quit ea few people said, “Ew, purple. ******* did purple.” or “Ew miss ********” ****** happened to have cheated and separated from her husband and she lives w/ a bf now… And most of our family likes her husband (they never did divorce) more than they like her because she’s so mean (to him and to us). Oh well, they’ll get over it!! The purple is mine now!! And the venue!! lol
