I'll probably ask my dad to pick. Although I'm worried he'll pick something by Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash.

Maybe I'll let him pick as long as I get veto rights.

@boulderbride2010 LOVE that song! It always makes me want to cry :)

I would let my Dad pick. It gives it more meaning when it's something he connects with, too.

We're doing "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allan or "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw or "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. I'm going to let him make the final decision! :)

We're dancing to "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright too!  My FI is dancing with his mom to "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts, which could be used for a father and daughter.  My best friend used "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman, which is really cute.

I am dancing with my brother, since my dear father passed away in 2008.  My brother called me and asked if he could dance with me to Boston's "Amanda".   My Dad told my brother that was the song he heard on the way to the hospital the day I born.. hence my name Amanda :)  I love that song and I cannot wait to dance with my big brother!

My dad is really into country music. I chanced upon a song called "Daddy's Little Girl" by David Glenn. It's PERFECT!

Before that I was considering "Walk with You" by Edwin McCain.

    I hope that helps!

We are dancing to Tangled Up Puppet by Harry Chapin - it is a very sentimental song for me, and both my parents.  We are planning on inviting other father/daughters to dance about half way through because it is long song...and then I am going to dance with my mom to the rest, because she used to sing it to me when I was very little.

    @rachaelrobin:

I love the idea of dancing with your mom, too. I was wondering if there was something I could do about that.

I have been stuck on "I loved her first" since I first heard it, even before I met my fiance. But now that I've been seeing how common it is, I really kinda want something a little more special. So I've thought of "It won't be like this for long" by Darius Rucker, "Walk with you" by Edwin McCain, or "I loved her first"... I'm going to leave that decision up to my dad, as I'm his only child :-)

I've been debating between Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" and "I Loved Her First."  My parents are both deaf, actually, so I'm on my own for picking out a song for the father daughter dance.  I absolutely LOVE "My little girl" and it makes me cry every time.  The only thing holding me back a little bit was the line where he says "Some day some boy will come and ask me for your hand, but I won't say yes to him unless I know he's the half that makes you whole......I know he'll say he's in love, but between you and me, he won't be good enough."

I didn't know if I should have a song played at our wedding that says "he won't be good enough."?? Am I thinking too much into it?

My Dad and I are going to dance to Darius Rucker's "It Won't Be Like This For Long".  I always thought "I Loved Her First" by Heartland was a cute song, but my fiance hates it.  He feels like it is offensive to the new husband.

@CellaDee:Wow, I'm really surprised that you were the only one who is dancing to this song.  And you say you "happened by" it as if you never heard it before?

I guess I'm surprised noone is using this because to me, it's the only certain thing about my wedding.  I mean, it's the only thing I have ever known for sure about my wedding.  I always knew, since I can remember, that this was the song I would be dancing with my dad to.  He use to sing it to me all the time when I was a kid.  ANd I think there's a cassette recording of him singing this to me when I was a baby.

    :)

You're the end of the rainbow, the star on the tree, you're the easter bunny to mommy and me.  You're sugar, you're spice.  You're everything nice and You're Daddy's Little Girl.
