I think what happens pretty frequently is that people just read the OP and don’t continue to read the thread so they only reply to the first statement. If the OP responds later it gets overlooked.

I am not trying to defend snarky/rude comments, but I know I have been guilty of posting the same comment that probably 10 other bees have already commented on.   This has happened because I will read the original post and immediately go to reply.. sometimes that means skipping a few pages of comments. Perhaps that is also happening with other bees?

@MissTatas: Yeah.  Personally, I don’t always read all replies before posting, especially if the thread is very long.

Yep people don’t bother reading through the thread and it’s rather annoying. At least you can do is look through for a followup from the OP before posting on the 2nd or 3rd page of comments. This annoys me as well as months and year old posts being dug back and posted on. There were 5 in a row one night this weekend.

@VegasSukie: What happens is people just respond without reading the whole thread.

ETA: like I just did. Usually if I answer and go back and read and the OP has answered, I will go back and edit my post.

meh, there’s plenty of people in the tl;dr crowd. i remember an old thread where a girl wanted some like $900 LVs for her wedding shoes and when she came back to post that she got them (and thus awakening the thread) there were still plenty of people who immediately responded with things like “OMG DON’T GET THEM! THEY’LL BE A WASTE OF MONEY!!” uhh… too late, guys. she posted pictures of her wearing them on her wedding day, I don’t think she needs you telling her not to get them!

@elliestan: I remember that one, lol :).

I know I’ve been guilty of this occasionally. Sometimes I feel really strongly about what the OP has said that I’d like to post my opinion even if it’s already been said. Other times I post just to agree with bees. I don’t think I’m ever snarky, though. I try to phrase things as nicely as possible.

@VegasSukie: Yeah, I totally know what you mean. A lot of the time when I post it’s to say what PPs have said in a nicer way to try to get the message across without the snark. But I think we’ll always have pile ups on sensitive issues. As a demographic, we’re most likely all here because we like to share our opinions. 🙂
