My dress.  I went over budget by a whopping $800 after undergarments and alterations..

I just picked it up today.  Worth EVERY PENNY!

Photography...its 1/4 of our budget...and they worked some serious numbers for us!

Venue! Our place has an in-house caterer who is awesome but rent/ food and bar; it's $10K of our $12K budget.

Photography...without a doubt. Although our honeymoon cost more, but it's not technically part of the wedding :)

Definitely the venue. It takes up about a third of our budget.

We are spending the MOST on food/beverage for our 50 guests (a little over 4K after taxes and service charges), but that doesn't feel like a splurge to me, as that's about what I expecting to spend (and there is no charge for the ceremony or reception venue). My photog is MUCH more expenisive than I thought....almost three times what I originally budgeted, so that seems like the big splurge to me.

Our venue with the food and beverages is 50 percent of our budget, but that's pretty standard, so I don't really consider that a "splurge."

I'm working really hard at following the budget The Knot suggested. However, we are going to go way over in the transportation and lodging category because we're getting married out of town.

Our venue takes up 2/3 of our budget, but we knew that would happen...but our biggest splurge has to be our photographer and videographer! Pictures are FOREVER !

Definitely the venue! It takes up about 2/3 of our budget, too, but that includes building rental, food and bar, security, clean up, hopefully centerpieces, etc. I think it's worth it!

The thing I wanted to splurge on, and do consider it my "splurge" is photography. We allocated more money to our photo budget so that we can have the beautiful photos we want.

Our reception is about 55% of our budget, so definitely that!

Our venue and catering is a bit higher than we were shooting for, but I think I'd also have to go with photography as the real splurge.  Oh, and my hair!  My stylist is always kind of cha-ching, even for cuts, but my wedding hair is a splurge I'm personally paying for (my parents covered the photography splurge!).

Venue and the photobooth but both were well worth it.  We had our ceremony and reception at the venue and the photobooth gave us so many photos of our guests.

Defnitely the Venue and Catering. They come together. This was the thing that was most important to me. I didn't want some random ballroom that you can find anywhere in the country. I wanted the skyline of Manhattan. haha.

Photography here too. I also just added cinematography to our package. Oiy. It's worth it though, I love our photographer and his work, it's ridiculous. I'm just trying not to think about how much we're spending.

The Venue. But then again our wedding budget is pretty small and the venue is over 1/2 of the total.

    Photography!

Scored great deals on the venue and food; photography was our priority that we just couldn't cut corners on. (Although the caliber of our photog. is a great deal for the price)

Photography! And we couldn't be happier about it!! Our photographer is amazing and is going to capture out day so beautifully...it's what we will look back on the rest of our lives. We want it captured in a way that is special and intimate. I can't wait to see how the whole day and the photos turn out!!

Photography - My dress will be sold or go in a closet, the flowers will die, the food will be eaten, the cake is eaten, The dancing ends... none of that makes sense to spend money on if it's not documented well for eternity ;-)

The catering. The photographer was a bit of a plurge too, but not because she is that much more expensive than others in our area, just more expensive than I guessed a good photographer would be! d'oh!

Mine is the dress. Granted it's 17.18% of the wedding budget and not the most expensive thing, catering is, but, without making the flowers and doing everything DIY, we'd be over budget due to my dress.

Our caterer was the most expensive. Mostly because he's also doing ALL our decorating. but definately worth every penny! such a relief that I dont have to worry about any of that.

Venue with food/bar/cake BY FAR is the most expensive. But, IMO, one of the most important aspects. We also get a wedding planner, coat check, the cocktail hour, dinner and all-night event management with it so it is completely worth it.

Food and drink - we're having a buffet reception that includes dessert, wedding cake, a midnight lunch and an open bar.  It will probably be 2/3 of our budget.

Well my venue is about 50% (with ALL decorations, food and alcohol) BUT the photography was a MUST so that and the videography are another 15-20% of the budget.

We're splurging on a photo booth and lounge.  I'm really excited to see what kind of photos our guests take!

Catering is our biggest expense by far, but I expected that. So I'd have to say photography. We splurged to get our dream photographer and I am SO excited!

Venue! It includes our ceremony, room rental with linens and everything plus food, wine during diner and open bar plus tips. But its a major component!
