@mrsedwardslpn:  We just did our tasting a few weeks ago. Our “cake lady” is a friend who does cakes out of her house.. so we didn’t have quite as many flavor options as we would of at a typical bakery.. but we’re also getting a 3 tiered wedding cake (with 3 side cakes for cutting in the kitchen to serve) for $165! So we’re getting a good deal. 

Anyway, we chose chocolate w/ chocolate mousse filling for the bottom layer, next is white cake w/ strawberry filling and the top layer is chocolate cake w/ strawberry filling. The 3 sides cakes are just plain chocolate, yellow & strawberry. We obviously weren’t too adventurous with our flavors, but either way they’re super yummy! And I think people enjoy just good old fashioned chocolate cake, they don’t like to get too fancy.

We are having cupcakes with a Red Velvet cutting cake but these are our flavors.

Lemon (with lemon frosting), 
Smores (chocolate gram cracker cupcake with marshmallow frosting),
Red velvet (with cream cheese frosting),
Chocolate (with Chocolate butter cream frosting)
Vanilla (with vanilla butter cream frosting),

We’re doing a 3 layer cake with 2 flavors: almond praline (almond cake with white chocolate mousse that has bits of almond praline in it), and neapolitain (layered like so: white cake, strawberry mousse, chocolate cake, strawberry mousse, white cake). They’re both AMAZING! The almond praline is my favorite, and I figure the neapolitain hits all the traditional notes for anyone wigged out by the almond praline.

Grooms cake is red velvet

My cake will be 1 layer pistachio and the other 2 will be a white chocolate/raspberry filled.

middle tier is lemon with raspberry filling

bottom tier is marble with strawberry filling

The flavors from top to bottom:
Italian cream with Coconut & Pecans
cream Cheese Pound Cake with Lemon Curd and Red Raspberries
Amaretto with Praline Cream
Salted Caramel
  The cake itself is cream cheese pound cake
Cakes to be iced with amaretto flavored icing and fondant
It will look like green wedgwood
Groom’s cake
Red velvet with chocolate cream cheese filling
vanillia cream cheese icing
chocolate dipped strawberries on top and sides
Chocolate petit fours iced in buttercream with shaved coconut and sugared panies
these are for my parents 45th wedding anniversary which is on our wedding day

We don’t like fillings so we are doing almand flavor, marble (chocolate and vanilla) and Vanilla.

We’re doing a classic white cake; 3 tiers with 3 different fillings!


Bottom layer will have a raspberry mousse. Middle layer will have a dark chocolate strawberry mousse. Top layer will have classic buttercream.

Our cake was key lime with a raspberry filling.

Delicious! Everyone loved it.
