    @carmensita1:  To my surprise, my FI chose rose gold to match mine and it looks great on him! I think because it’s 18k it’s not as pink so it looks like a soft gold on him.

    @carmensita1:  That was what drew me to tungsten, actually- if it needs to be removed, it can be cracked with a vise instead of being cut (something that as an ER nurse I know is tedious and slow even with gold, and sometimes impossible with titanium unless special equipment is available). And it’s inexpensive, so replacing it if it cracks will be no problem. I could buy ten of the suckers for the price of one plain gold ring in his size!

    We’re going with cobalt chrome- it looks like platinum but is harder and more scratch resistant, won’t shatter like tungsten, is nickel free, and is inexpensive!

    My husband has white tungsten. He wanted tungsten, and I wanted him to have platinum because I prefer the color. We stumbled across a white tungsten band & he loved it! It was a great price too.

    @Bubblesmcgee:  +1

    I actually bought FI’s a while back when whe were having a rough patch, he wore it as a reminder of what we are.  When he proposed, we talked about getting him another one and he decided he wants to keep that one because of the sentimentality behind it.

    It’s a plain, dark tungsten with a beveled edge and brushed finish

    That’s what the one we got looks like:

    It looks EXACTLY like one he tried on and loved at a b&m jewelry store, but we found it for about 1/10 the price. I can’t believe the markup on even non-precious metal jewelry at mall stores.

    Platinum. I like the heft and luxurious feel of it, and so does my FI.

    Mine picked out White Gold. My rings are platinum, but he doesn’t like the patina that platinum gets, so he went with WG. He just got a plain, comfort fit style ring, without any embellishments (I thought some milgrain or detailing would be nice, but he wanted plain so that’s what he got!).
