Mine is oddly specific. I like books that take the fairytail world and put a modern spin on it, or vice versa. Like, Wicked or almost anything from Gregory McGuyer for example.
I'm a mystery/thriller fan. Especially ones with ties into medicine or science.
I'm a huge travel novel fan. If you like quirky English humor (with tons of sarcasm) look up Stephen Clarke. He is a really amusing writer.
@Ms Hedgehog: It isn't a fairy tale world, more of a historical time period with a modern twist...have you looked into the Luxe novels? They say pre-teen but all the adults I know love them. Its a combo of history, romance and a bit of gossip girl all mixed into one.
Fantasy... particularly when it has a large romance factor! :D
<3 fantasy.
I love fantasy or science fiction - but not the type that seems like it was written by a creepy nerd who has never touched a woman and likes to fantasize about dragon rape or things along those lines. Ick. I've seen far too much of that by just picking up a book in the sci fi fantasy section, so I now skew towards women authors, and sometimes young adult fiction as well.
I really love when an author can craft a whole new world or reality and make it convincing.
All of my favorites are Classics really. I like some Fantasy/Sci-Fi and the odd historical book, but mostly just the classics :) Charlotte Bronte, Thomas Hardy, Alexander Dumas, Tolstoy. I even like modern books that copy the "classical" style like Susanna Clarke and Robin McKinley or newer classics like Virginia Wolfe and Thoreau.
But for fun I usually read young adult fiction. It's less pompous than adult literature and some of it is equally well written.
I love fantasy/sci-fi and British comedy. Terry Pratchett, Jasper Fforde, Douglas Adams, Sophie Kinsella, Diane Duane and Patricia C. Wrede are some of my all-time favorite authors.
Literature for sure! I love books that will stand the test of time: The Birth House, The Time Travellers Wife and Loving Frank are a few of my favorites.
I am willing to read most anything, but my favorite genre is Classics.
I love epic fantasy - series where all the books are fat and there's tons of them. Somehow I'd never read Game of Thrones before this year, but I tore through those because they are entirely up my alley.
Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule is another good one, and the start to a 12 or 13 book series.
Lord of the Rings was what got me hooked on epicness.
I love Literary Fiction and Historical Fiction the best. I love books like The White Tiger, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Shogun etc.
I love historical fiction and mysteries. I also love a good love story. I have a Kindle too and subscribe to www.ereadernews.com because they keep track of great deals for Kindle users. They have a great list of free books! I've built quite a library in my Kindle from that site.
My favorite section in the library is the Young Adult section. I like to say that I read those books to help me as an 8th grade reading teacher, but really I just like the easy reads. :)
Mark me down for memoirs... I am a sucker for books about true life.
I like thriller/horror/scary. The most blood and guts the better. I tried reading a romance novel once ad couldn't stop laughing. I think I will just stick to my scary ones ;)
I literally will read any genre. I just love reading :) But the books that are my favorite have tended to be mystery/thriller, historical fiction, fantasy/science fiction, and nonfiction on subjects that I have special interests in. That doesn't really narrow it down though :P
@Mrs.KMM:Omg do you love Tess Gerritsen's books?? I love them so much! If you haven't read her books, definitely check them out :)

Sorry, there are no users yet.
So since I just ordered my Kindle (Yay!), I started downloading free e-books. Then this got me thinking what's your favorite genre?
I'm a softie for Romance/Thrillers or just mysteries.
With this Kindle, I'm open to exploring some other genres. I'm going to see if I like romantic books. I hope they're not too sappy.
