Im feeling lovey dovey this Holiday season. Help me update my Netflix!
Mine is The Notebook <3
What's yours?
The Holiday!!! Christmas themed, funny, and romantic. Love it!
Great thread! Mine is Love Actually :) Also, I just saw The Proposal & it was really cute!
Mine's Pride & Prejudice, followed by Love Actually.
OMG this is great! I have never seen any of the above movies! lol. Im missing out! See, usually Im a horror movie freak but love is in the air this year!
I wonder what Hubby is gonna think once he see's the netflix queue. HAHA!
Atonement...because they both die at the end! Muahahahahaha!
Sadly, that's not too far from the truth. I also love West Side Story, Shakespeare in Love, and Moulin Rouge. My absolute favorite is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. LOVE it.
*is a sad, depressing person*
oh gosh...probably Moulin Rouge (also using "come what may" as our first dance, i think!)
this may change after it's been a few months since i've seen the movie, but i really, really loved Away We Go when i saw it a few weeks ago. it was so sweet and subtle (and made FI cry!).
Hmm...hard to choose just one, but "Maid in Manhattan" ; "Love & Basketball" ; "Love Jones" ; "Coming to America"...lol
The Notebook is one of my favorites too. I also love The Wedding Date and Lucky 7(you might not have heard of this one, but it is great)
@veganglam- I LOVE when I catch my H shed a tear at a movie. MUAHAHAHAHA!
No really I think its soo cute that he is so emotional and caring.
Love Actually for sure. But I haven't seen too many of the ones everyone's mentioned, so mine isn't a well-informed opinion.
The Notebook! And my second favorite is Enchanted hehe.
I love Pride & Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth, of course!) and Love Actually. I also love Keeping the Faith, which is more of buddy movie and a love story mixed together.
Speaking of Netflix, I just watched a movie on the Instant View feature (finally something useful FI's xbox 360 does) called "Lost in Austin" it's a cheesy storyline of modern girl gets sent back in time to the story of Pride and Prejudice, but I actually enjoyed it! I sat intrigued through all 3 hours.
@blondiebee: I had a feeling you'd choose the notebook! SO good! I love that movie...but when I thought about it, mine is probably "Where the heart is"
A lot of people may remember the movie as The WalMart baby! I loves it! It's not really a "looooovveee" story, but it's so inspirational. LOVE it!
I must not like love stories because I've never seen a single one of these movies. hehe ;o)
@Lees-LOVED THE NOTEBOOK, as I said b4 my bridesmaids walked down to Main Title in that song! LOL Walmart Baby? That sounds interesting. : )
@hotinthecity-you must see the Notebook. : )
I'm hooked on the classics...
-Casablanca
-Love Story
-An Affair to Remember (ok, pretty much anything with Cary Grant)
-Gone with the Wind
-BUtterfield 8
-Giant
-Roman Holiday
-Breakfast @ Tiffany's
ohhhh, I could go ON and ON.
@Lees, I love Where the Heart Is. Why wouldn't it be a love story? It has all the elements of one.
haha - LOVE this thread!
Of the movies already listed, I loved the following: Love Actually, The Notebook, P.S. I love you, and Enchanted.
Some others that I love are: Notting Hill, A Walk to Remember, Ever After, Serendipity, 50 First Dates, and The Wedding Singer
Ohh, I forgot about the classics! D'oh! I love the Philadelphia Story and My Fair Lady as well, and all of the Thin Man movies. Not traditional "love" stories, but I think Nick and Nora Charles are one of the best screen couples ever - FH and I strive to be like them (sans about half the amount of drinking!) ;-)
A few of my girls STILL pick on me because when we went to see The Notebook, I didn't cry. I'm generally not prone to tearing up @ films. I think the only films that have "gotten me" are Love Story, Terms of Endearment, and Lassie (granted I was like 3yrs old, but maaaaaaaan did I get hysterical).
Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Me And You and Everyone We Know.
There was also this totally depressing old movie I saw on AMC one night: lovable 50s housewife gets cancer, tells no one, finds out her husband is cheating on her, loves him anyway, tells the mistress about her cancer and how she needs to take care of her daughter, goes on one last lovey dovey trip with her husband and dies there. OMG. Heartbreaking. I always have a thing for those martyr types I guess, like Melanie in Gone with the Wind. Ugh.
"Stranger Then Fiction" with Maggie Gylenhal and Will Farrell. It is a BEAUTIFUL movie about unlikely love and finding meaning in life. By far my favorite movie (and love story) of all time!
The Notebook and PS I Love You (although it makes me cry unbearably through the whole thing and an hour after!)
i don't really like many love stories... But I will say if i had to pick from the list above, Moulin Rouge. I think Nicole Kidman's a bit of an ice princess, but who doesn't like Ewan McGregor?
None! I hate drippy romantic movies! I rather watch an old sci fi or kung fu movie any day!
I always enjoy Love Story and Casablanca, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy are awesome together on screen.
For me it's Roman Holiday, My Fair Lady and a french film called Love Me If You Dare. If you haven't seen the french one and like the Notebook, I HIGHLY recommend it!
I like the Katharine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movies best, too! Love, love, LOVE Pat & Mike and Desk Set. For recent films, I'd say WALL-E! Also, my absolute favorite movie in this genre has to be ONE FINE DAY! OMG, George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer! So cute, hilarious, and not mushy at all. GO WATCH IT NOW!
