Oooh...good question! I'm planning so many that I'm really proud of, but I think my favorite is what gives our wedding the "theme" and sort of centralizes all the other details.
After the ceremony, the guest will exit the church and then FH and I will come out to a log waiting on the church steps. It's a German tradition that the couple has to saw the log in half and is symbolic of their first task as a married couple. I'm really nervous about it, especially since it's January in Texas (could be 70 degrees or 20 degrees...) but I think it's a cool tradition and will make for some great photos. Fortunately, we have a small log set aside for the task and we've practiced once or twice. (:
I am also going to have black and white photos of our parents/grandparents on their wedding days. I love that idea and paying tribute to successful, loving and happy marriages.
My other favorite detail of the moment is that I am going to have my mother cross stitch a hanky with my wedding date in blue thread that I will carry with me. Something I can keep forever AND my mother always was cross stitching something growing up, so this means a lot to me.
Ooooh I love this thread! There are so many I'm excited about -
The typewriter key on my bouquet (totally did NOT see that on Lovebug's til FroYo posted it - how cool to see how it will look!!) as my something old.
The paper flag that my flower girl will carry that says "Here Comes the Bride" instead of flowers (see pic - copied from Martha Stewart, of course!)
The modern decorations and table's a'la Amy Atlas that I'm going for.
Ack, I could go on and on! But I want to read about everyone else's!
I'm also having pictures of our parents & grandparents from their wedding day displayed on the gift/card table as well! I saw this at another wedding and LOVED it!
Aw, I love all of these details! I think its such an honor to pay tribute to your family!
I haven't come up with too many small details, or at least they're not set in stone but the ones I am sure about and that I do love are:
1. We have a homemade "Thank You" sign that we'll take a picture with at the wedding and make it the cover of our thank you cards.
2. I just bought 4 custom monograms from etsy and I can't wait to splash them all around
3. I am gonna make a custom aisle using directions from someone in the DIY section. Should be fun!
I love the log thing, Dee to Bee! I love naming tables after important things and then explaining them... we're definintely doing that! And really creative escort cards, though I am definintely not creative! I'll have to work hard at that one!
I loved that Martha Stewart sign idea - very cool to have your flower girl carry one! :)
My favorite is the way we're serving the dinner, it is family style. I think it is a great way to make sure everyone gets hot food ASAP, and to get people having conversations at the table.
I also love the muslin bags we stamped our "thank you" message on (Miss Apple Pie did something similar recently).
We love the beach and are having our ceremony and reception on ocean so we've started collecting sand from every beach we visit and plan on incorporating it into our centerpieces with labels say where the sand is from.
I love the idea of doing pictures in frames on the tables. I hope I can get cooperation to round up some good ones!
I want to do the "Thank You" sign pic as well. We'll have to pick out the spot for that pic to be taken next time we go up.
@shaema- I love sand and seashells. I have a collection as well.
@laylabella: love that sign, if I was going to have a flower girl I would totally do that too, I have to share this inspiration pic with you of the flowergirl & ring bearer carrying a sign during the processional!
We did the wedding photo thing at our wedding, but we took it one step further. We sent an e-mail to all our married guests who RSVP'd yes, and asked if they would send us a digital copy of their wedding photo, as well as their wedding date, and some "words of wisdom" for what they think has created a happy marriage over the years. 90 percent of them submitted their photo, and we displayed them all over our reception room. People loved it! We bought frames from the dollar store and printed up the advice on cardstock, and made little folding signs for each picture.
One other thing we did was create memory cards for each guest at our wedding. We had a small wedding with 73 people total, and everyone in attendance had a special place in our hearts. So we decided to write down our favorite memory of each person, print them on cardstock, and put them at each place setting. We had a sign on the table that said something like, "We've loved having you all in our lives, and we've decided to share our favorite memory of you with everyone. Please share, exchange or hide 'em. Either way, we just want you to know how much you mean to us!" People LOVED them, and it was also a good conversation starter because people were sharing all the cards. Guests were coming up to us all night saying they couldn't believe how much effort we put into making everyone feel appreciated. It was a headache of a project, but totally worth it.
We're going to have honeycrisp apples that double as escort cards. So exciting!
Finding my dress! I found it pretty quickly (the first day I went looking) and I love everything about it. Looking forward to my alteration appointment just so I can try it on again!
I love that we're doing a first look! I'm really excited for that! I'm also really happy we're donating to charity in honor of my father who passed away. It seems more meaningful to me than favors and it's a wonderful way to remember him :) Plus our donation cards are amazing!

There is a post below about bee weddings. ie weddings that have are very detailed oriented, well thought out, beautiful etc...
So what is a favorite detail that you have seen at a wedding or are planning at your wedding?
I think my favorite detail right now is including family wedding pictures at the wedding. I went to a wedding this summer where the guest book table included framed wedding pictures of the couple's parents and grandparents. I loved it! I plan to do that at our wedding as well, but only with our parent's wedding pictures, because there is a lot of drama with FI's grandparents.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone's responses:)
