I'm spending the afternoon watching one of my favorite movies, which has a beautiful and moving wedding ceremony in the middle of it - Fiddler on the Roof.  Though I'm not usually a big fan of more traditional and religious weddings, I just think there is so much emotion (and it's so beautifully shot with the candle light!) that I can't help crying every single time I watch it!

What are some of your favorite movie weddings?

I can also tell you my least favorite... Made of Honor.  Ick!

    Wedding Crashers!
and the ever classic My Best Friend's Wedding and Father of the Bride
does Sex and the City count? ;)

I hated Made of Honor too. So dull.

My favorite wedding is the one from "Sweet Home Alabama" when she is walking down the aisle and the lightening strikes and the rain begins to barely fall.  I cried when I first saw that.  Then again, as a soon to be divorcee, almost any movie which included a wedding at that time in my life would make me cry.

I think the movie with the "best IMPLIED wedding" ever is the remake of "Miracle on 34th Street" when the mom comes downstairs on Christmas morning wearing a wedding ring sparkling in the glow of the tree and the little girl asks for a little brother for Christmas.  That movie always makes me cry.

Definitely the Branagh/Thompson Much Ado About Nothing. The dancing in the end is just so joyous. "Come, I will have thee, but by this light I take thee for pity." Now that's how to sweet talk a girl.

I also love seeing Sam Gamgee marry Rosie Cotton in The Return of the King.

Romeo and Juliet in the '97 (I think that was the year it was filmed, starring Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes) film version

Not technically a wedding but is translated by many viewers to be one:

Love Actually, when the choir starts singing out of nowhere and then the trumpets show up in the pews, love it!!!!

Also, Steel Magnolias not so much for the actual wedding but more the leading up to- "my colors are blush and bashful"

I love the wedding scene from the modern R&J, and I agree the BMs in 27 dresses at the end cracked me UP!

I hate to admit that I like the Wedding Planner...but only in that way you like funnel cake....sugary sweet and something you don't want to have every day.

and I echo Sweet Home Alabama....and um, my wedding video of course, LOL

The wedding scene in "Madea's Family Reunion"...mostly b/c it was so over the top and NOTHING I would ever consider having for my wedding =) There were people dressed as angels hanging from the ceiling strumming harps...LOL. Thousands upon thousands of flowers...it was a wedding on steroids and I LOVED it...would NEVER do anything like that in a million years...but I wouldn't have minded being a guest =)

For me it's Best Man.  Everything about that wedding was gorgeous and luxurious.  I also love the end of Runaway Bride where they are on the horses in the middle of the field with their friends and family standing a ways off.

I love the last part of Hitch, when everyone's dancing like nuts at the wedding!  I need to set up something like that at our reception. : )

My favorite movie wedding scene is in "While you were Sleeping". They didn't actually get married but it's a great scene with the whole family! I also love the (real) engagement scene in that movie too!

I agree with some bees on Father of the Bride.  I must've seen it a million times and I cry each time.

But I adore the movie Sense and Sensibility (Kate Winslett and Emma Thompson).  The love stories intertwined throughout the movie and the wedding at the end.  I lose myself in this movie.

Princess Bride! "Mawwwwidge. Mawwwidge is what bwings us twogevaarrr twooodaaaay" When I was little I wanted to have a wedding dress exactly like Princess Buttercup!

And I still love 4Wed & a Funeral - when Scarlet walks down the aisle with the back of her Bridesmaid dress tucked into her undies?! HAH! The hats alone make me want to get married in the UK.

Edit: And Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama?? How can you not be in love with that birdcage veil?!?

Love Actually. It gives me goosebumps everytime when all the different band players stand up and start playing "All You Need Is Love."

This was one of the first movies my husband and I watched together, and we decided to have that song play during our recessional. We watch it every year around Christmas as a tradition :)

Father of the Bride is my all-time favorite. Still gets me. Wedding Crashers is another great one. However, I have to say that my new favorite wedding of all time is the PB&J Office wedding. I must have watched that episode about 10 times already and I'm not deleting it off the DVR anytime soon.

I LOVE the mismatched fabulosity and celebration in Mamma Mia :) Dancing in the rain, a smattering of china, a Grecian gown- it all looked so unique and relaxed.

I don't like made of honour. Is it supposed to be that ironic? He wasn't made of any honour!

I love four weddings. Great film. I can't think of a really moving wedding scene off the top of my head at the moment. will have to think on that one.

@gingerlex---i agree!  made of honor (US spelling ;-)  was terrible!  why on earth were we supposed to hope she'd end up with him?  and her fiance was perfectly great until the last second, and then they made up a million over-the-top reasons that he was awful (gasp--he eats MEAT!)   terrible movie lol.

i have to say i absolutely adore Father of the Bride.  love love love.

also i know this goes against what many people think, but i LOATHE love actually!

Two of mine are slightly obscure.  I love the wedding in the Philadelphia Story (the 1940 movie with Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart).  I also really loved the wedding (although I hated the entire movie) in Forces of Nature before it was ruined by the storm.  It was outside at an old house in the South.  Very beautiful.  And of course, Father of the Bride.  I cry EVERY time.
