@chercee:  Heavy metal for the most part 🙂 I particularily like Metallica, Megadeth and Rammstein. Although my 2 fav bands aren’t heavy metal, Queen and Green Day.

Blues rock (Stevie Ray Vaughan!) I also love pretty much any soul, and classic rock. Older hip hop too (I love the Roots). I guess there are many genres I don’t want to live without. Haha

@sparky263:  +1 for heavy metal!!

It really depends on my mood. I’d say my favorite is 80-90s country such as George Strait, Patty Loveless and Joe Diffie.

New hard rock/heavy metal take a very close second! Five Finger Death Punch, Miss May I, All that Remains and Asking Alexandria.

I like alternative rock. Like Staind, 30 seconds to Mars, Fuel, Muse, Story of the Year, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Sick Puppies, Serj Tankian, and Apocalyptica.

I also really like classical music.

Alternative, Indie and Punk. I only listen to Alt Nation and Faction on XM. I do like some rap, but only the catchy-silly stuff, nothing too hardcore gangster/murderous, lol.

A lot of random things. I love classical music and have a season membership to the Nashville Symphony, but I’m also obsessed with Muse, Queen, MIKA, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel… I also love Japanese pop.

My tastes are all over the place, but there will always be a special place in my heart for electronic music.  The artists I currently have on rotation are Bonobo (saw him in concert last week too), Moderat, RJD2, Disclosure, Daft Punk, and Boards of Canada.

MY personal fave is Oldies as well…

Altho as that is a wide category… I prefer the period late 1950s to late 1960s, that 10 or so year span that includes Elvis, The Beatles, The British Invasion, Motown, etc.

I had a fabulous time when we went to Cleveland to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Mr TTR thinks this hysterical… my passion for this timeframe… cause it was about 10 years too early for MY “teenage years”.  It was however, the music of HIS.  Lol, and he’s not crazy about it at all… not the way I am.  He says it sounds all the same to him, and that he got his fill of it as a kid.

(OK I’ll agree with him when it comes to the Guy & Girl Groups of the period… especially the Do-Wop Groups … they do all sound quite similar / the same… )

Mr TTR’s fave music is The Blues… especially Oldie Mississippi Delta Blues from the 1920s to the 1960s (prior to the Legal Civil Rights Amendments)

This is part of the reason that we took our Pre-Wedding Trip from Memphis to New Orleans, and spent a good deal of time in the Mississippi Delta…

I didn’t know much about The Blues before I met Mr TTR… I’ve learned a lot since.

Altho since we started our study of the US South… I now personally find the even older period of Spirituals, Work Songs, Field Hollers and Chants far more interesting.

And throw in some Country Blues or Memphis Blues and I am a happy camper !!

Beyond all that…

We are also very eclectic in our listening habits…

We also enjoy Blue Grass, Jazz, Zydeco and a touch of Reggae

I like to reflect on my own childhood by listening to the Big Crooners of the early 1960s from time to time… (or that style ala Michael Bublé)… Frank Sinatra – Dean Martin – Perry Como – Andy Williams etc.  Takes me back in time to listening to the radio in our home / car… and lots of Family Weddings

1970s rock doesn’t get played awhole bunch… lol, maybe because like Mr TTR it is the music of MY teenage years and so I got my fill of it as a kid

But once in awhile I’ll hear a song that will take me back to the years I spent Babysitting on New Years Eve, and the radio station would play the Top 100 Countdown for that year.

In truth, we can listen to just about anything… I’d say that we are not big fans Gospels, Operas, or Classical Music however.

EDIT TO ADD – My Ex-Husband was a Country junkie.  Mr TTR doesn’t like Country Music at all.  I have a fond spot for some of it… particularly the period of the 1960s to the 1980s.  Don’t listen to current country at all.

I listen to alternative & indie rock for the most part, but I have a pretty versatile taste in music overall. Love me some classic rock!
