Ooh, this one is tough. The fiancee and I have narrowed it down to three or four choices (including "What are you doing the rest of your life" and "what a wondeful world" both of which are especially meaninful to us.
I'd say you two should think through some special times for the two of you as a couple and see if they evoke any memories of particular songs. Was there something playing during your first kiss? Something you danced to? A movie you saw together that has a particularly beautiful theme song?
Whatever it is, it will likely mean more to you 30 years from now if it's a song that's special to you and not just something you picked randomly. :)
Good luck! Let us know what you choose!
Ours was "Baby it's Fact" by hellogoodbye. We did a cute choreographed dance. We also had our rings engraved with the main lyric.
I think this is a very personal choice that should reflect you and your fh's personalities. Even though ours wasn't traditional, everyone loved it!
"your song"... debating between the ewan mcgregor/moulin rouge! version or elton john's classic.
We're dancing to Bless the Broken Road by Rascall Flatts. I can't wait!
Either "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw. I know I'll be crying if we choose that. I cry now when I hear it!
Our other countender is "A Whole New World" from the Aladdin soundtrack. That one has special meaning to us. I knew he was the one the day he showed up at my office with the sountrack to Aladdin and The Little Mermaid!
We danced to Best Friend by Queen - unusual and upbeat - but the lyrics fit us well.
And Irishgirl - I wanna grow old with you was our entrance song! I love it!
We are dancing to "Better Together" by Jack Johnson....because, well, we are better when we're together. Besides being huge Jack fans, this song has held special meaning to us throughout our relationship.
We'll have to practice a bit before though - it's a mix between an slowish song, yet slightly upbeat.
We saw Robert Plant this summer and I love old Zep too. My choice (if we are indeed coastal) is "Sea of Love" by Robert Plant and the Honeydrippers. Gorgeous song and his voice? To die for.
Very elegant yet cool song.
We're doing a remake of "Maybe I'm amazed" originally by paul mccartney but we are using a modern version preformed by Jem.
My fiance and I are dancing to Bryan Adams - Ill always be right there. It is a beautiful song with a beautiful message. We are dancing to the unplugged version. If you have never heard it before you HAVE to listen to it! :) It made me cry... in a great way!
We're using Your Love is King by Sade - we love it and it has just the right tempo, so many songs we love were way too slow for us to dance to in front of anyone without doing the middle school zombie dance~ (you know where you just sway to the music! haha)
Our entrance is going to be we are family~
got to set a party tone for the reception!
We danced to the hawaiian remake of somewhere over the rainbow. It was beautiful and meant a lot but we didnt realize how long it went until the wedding. When you pick, listen to it all the way through and imagine yourself exhausted and see if you want to dance that whole time to it. We finally just aske dthe dj to fade it out, haha.
We're going to dance to Norah Jones' remake of Elvis' "Love Me Tender." It's very simple, romantic, and her voice is so beautiful.
However, when making the choice, we were also thinking about "I'm Yours" (Jason Mraz), "The Luckiest" (Ben Folds), and "When You Say Nothing at All" (Ronan Keating), but we're going to incorporate those in other ways (cheesy video time!!)
"Steady as we go" by Dave Matthews.... the lyrics are awesome and we're big fans so it was perfect :)
Ours is "you are so beautiful" by joe cocker. We chose it because in the beginning of our relationship it was the first song we ever danced to and he sings it to me all the time. It was a clear choice for us.
We are dancing to "Revelation" by a Christian band called The Wedding.
It's abt standing the test of time and how "today is when faith will turn to site" and how the world can do nothing to tear this love apart.
It's great :)
We danced to "Manoir de mes Reves" as performed by the Twin Cities Hot Club (it's a gypsy jazz/swing song from the 30s...slow, with beautiful violin and guitar).
But my favorite dance of the night was our last dance, which we did to "I've Had the Time of My Life," as in that song at the end of Dirty Dancing. During the wedding I wanted to dance to it but I couldn't think of the name of it, so I forgot about it---and then our wonderful DJ played it as the last song of his own accord. Our DJ won all the prizes.
mr monkey used the way i am by ingrid michaelson and it was the cutest song ever!
We danced to "Brighter Than Sunshine" by Aqualung. Our grand entrance song was to "The Good Life" by Kanye West complete with lit sparklers.
We were able to find a live version of Jack Johnson singing Angel followed by Better Together so we are using that as our first dance song. Our friends danced to Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat and it was really sweet.
We also used "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. Originally we were going to do "Queen of the Slipstream" by Van Morrison, but it was way too long, and so we used it as our last dance instead!
We danced to "I Have and Always Will" by Dave Barnes and we had so many people asking who it was by because they loved it!
We danced to ingrid michaelsons "the way I am" we didn't really have a "song" neither of us really dance and it was really short, cute lyrics and the first time I heard it was on grey's anatomy which is my obsession!
We haven't decided on a date yet, but if it's around Christmastime, our first dance will be to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is you" :)
We want to dance to Jack Johnson, so I suggested "better together" but he isn't crazy about it. I found another Jack Johnson song "Angel" and we both liked that. We have about 10 months to decide yet!
This was a toughie for us because we didn't want a slow song, but it couldn't be too fast that we wouldn't be able to dance to it. So Mr. C who is a huge Van Morrison fan suggested Jackie Wilson Said and I fell in love with it. We worked with a dance instructor to show us some simple moves and turns and it was definitely a crowd-pleaser and got people excited and pumped!
Ours was "Only Hope" by Switchfoot
the lyric that struck me most from the song was
"I give you my apathy; I'm giving you all of me"
I think it rings true for our relationship. We tend to just not give a crap about a lot of things. But being in a relationship with my husband makes me feel less apathetic about what's going on around me.
Our song happens to be an old one: "Try a Little Love" by Sam Cooke. My FI is a big Sam Cooke fan and this song really stuck during the first few months of our relationship
