(I can't believe no one has asked this in a while!) :-o
Everyone is going to be like wtf, but I'm thinking of Rachmaninov's "Vocalise"
(It's a little long, so it might need a fade-out or something.)
What's yours?
@GreenEyedMoon: My sister danced to that song too! Then her photographer set up a slide show with some wedding pics to that song and it was sooo nice! I would use that song too but don't want to copy her...
I was thinking "Just the way you are" by Billy Joel...or doing "Today" by smashing pumpkins to keep with my sis's theme :)
We are kicking it old school, and pretty traditional, with 'At Last' Etta James. I have daydreamed about dancing with FI to that song since early in our relationship, and everytime I listen to it lately it brings tears to my eyes. Plus it is kind of fitting in a funny way, since we have been together for 11 years... Most people's response to the news was something like "At Last!" :)
Still trying to decide this myself! Right now I'm thinking "Lucky" by Marc Broussard.
True Love Ways by Buddy Holly! It was an easy, no-brainer kind of a choice for us.
Metallica "Nothing Else Matters"
Yea our guests are going to be all WTF, but the lyrics are beautiful and just US.
We're using the acoustic version and cutting it down A LOT (it's a 6 minute song...).
'When You Got a Good Thing' by Lady Antebellum...it's a newer song, but everyone loved it and kept asking what the song was because they wanted to download it!
"I Love Your Love the Most" by Eric Church...my fiance actually picked it.
Hurricane by Jimmy Needham. We're music nerds, and his voice is soooo similar to FIs that I just pretend its him singing hehe
"The Way You Look Tonight", but the Maroon 5 version. FI will only dance one dance with me, since he hates dancing. This is like, the only song I've ever dreamed about dancing at my wedding.
Crazy Girl by Eli Young Band. My FI picked it, he was so determined to have it because he says it always makes him think of me. I had To Make You Feel My Love, the Adele version in mind, but I will ask the DJ to play it later on.
@TinyTina: We're doing Nothing Else Matters as well :D It really is a beautiful song
Unchained Melody
We wanted Such Great Heights by The Postal Service, but it is an in-between fast and slow kind of song <3
Van Morrison - Have I Told You Lately That I Love You
But it's 4 minutes long so I feel like we might have to shorten it.
Funny enough, we are dancing to "So Happy Together" by the Turtles...........we are having a beach wedding and pool side reception - we love the lyrics and the "happiness" of the song!!
Still have much more music to decide...........but that is our big one.
"As Time Goes By" by Dooley Wilson

@joy2011: I think that sounds so beautiful! I had to add that to my playlist on youtube for later. : )
Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly
Not the lyrics I would imagine for a first dance, but it's kinda our song so it is fitting for us. (sorry for the bold, it wouldn't turn off)
@sunbee: Iron & Wine do a cover of "Such Great Heights" and it is a lot slower but not nearly as fun as the Postal Service version.
We have not decided completely but it will likely be "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie.
We decided on the classic of all classics: Elvis - Can't Help Falling in Love. We wanted to do something by Petty but none of it felt right.
The groom requested a Johnny Cash song, so I scoured the internet looking for one that was appropriate (i.e., not about drug relapses or prison). Voila: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7sD6LSTBwo
@Mya Rose: Thanks! I have literally been searching for MONTHS to find a song and I finally found that one! I think it's going to be the one! I like that it is a little more upbeat but also still has that classic sound... and I haven't heard it done before!
"When you say nothing at all" by Ronan Keating, although Lucky and Better Together were top contenders!!
We are dancing to "Stand by Me" by Ben E King. I've loved that song since I was a kid and have dreamed of it being my first dance song for a long time.
"Fallen" by Lauren Wood. Also known as the Pretty Woman song. :-)
Never Gonna be alone by nickleback! Is what we have settled on right now!
"Into the Mystic"... probably the Zac Brown Band version but possibly the Van Morrison version.
Our first dance song was "This Never Happened Before" by Paul McCartney.
