We never had a song that was both of ours, so it took a lot of talking to figure out our first dance song. We knew when it was picked it would then be “our” song. Mr. D actually fell in love with “Hard to Concentrate” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and convinced me. It’s now our song! 🙂 It’s our ringtones for each other too.

The song we’re leaning more towards has a lot of meaning to us. We both remember the first moment we heard it played when we were together, and ever since then we’ll turn it on and be all lovey dovey to each other. Ha.

I also love “Unchained Melody” and it fits us so well and it means a lot to me, but not to him. So I don’t think he’s too keen on it!

18th Floor Balcony by Blue October.

FI picked it. I had never heard it, but he played it for me and I cried! It really made a lot of sense for us!

@MrsN14:  The song that we always related to was Eric Church’s “Guys Like Me” because the lyrics were SO us. 🙂

“I wear a greasy ball cap
    I like my shirt untucked
I spend Saturdays working on my truck
    I don’t like to fight
But I ain’t scared to bleed
Most don’t mess with a guy like me

    [Chorus:]
‘Cause guys like me drink too many beers on Friday after work
Our best blue jeans have skoal rings
We wear our boots to church
    So rough around the edges
    It’s hard to believe
    That girls like you
    Love guys like me

Your daddy worked at the bank
    Mine worked on cars
    You went to college
    I pulled graveyard
You must have had your pick
Of all the trust fund types
But you came back to me and only God knows why”

We never had a “song” either but I originally wanted Michelle Featherstone “We Are Man & Wife” but FI was listening to his iPod on shuffle one day and came across “Easy to Love You” by Theory of a Deadman and he loved the lyrics and thought it was perfect for us, it caught me off guard and I thought it was so sweet so it’s now our song 🙂

We have so many songs, but hardly any of them were slow-danceable. Our favorite song as a couple is Josh Turner’s “Would you go with me” but it’s way too fast and neither of us can two-step or whatever. So we chose another favorite song, Norah Jones “Come away with me” – it’s the song he sometimes plays for me when we decide to be all romantic and cute 🙂

We danced to ‘Everytime I Close My Etes’ by Babyface and Mariah Carey–DH chose it. The first line was fitting for us, since it took 11 1/2 years for us to get to the big day,  lol.

What A Difference A Day Made by Jamie Cullum.

Our first dance song is very special to us. It’s by his favorite artist and the lyrics really make sense for us. We had been interested in each other during our first year of college, but nothing came of it. During the summer between our first and second years of college, we “hung out” (not a date). Everything kinda happened that day — first kiss, first time holding hands, etc. Our first “official” date was a week later, and everything was history from there 🙂

Our first dance was Ryan Huston’s “Love You Forever”…we chose it because it was the song that was playing the first time we said I love you.

Our first dance is going to be to Same Love by Macklemore. We’re using that because we’re huge supporters of marriage equality.

Well, we haven’t officially agreed on a first dance song yet, but I’ve had one in mind for years (and FI hasn’t object yet lol).

I would like our first dance to be “Beginnings” by Chicago.

We say that we “met” during band camp right before our senior year of high school in the third section of our field show. We knew each other prior, but that was when we really started talking, and when FI decided he’d like to get to know me better. Our field show was Chicago, and there were three parts with medleys of two songs each. Chicago Part III (when we “met”) was “Saturday in the Park” and “Beginnings.” Of the two, “Beginnings” is the romantic song. For those of you who don’t know, the chorus is “Only the beginning, of what I want to feel forever” and it’s been FI’s ringtone on my phone for years.

FI just asked what I’m doing, and I told him. He asked if our song would be the Pokemon song haha. I said no. I told him that I have “Beginnings” in mind, but we hadn’t decided. He was like “well DUH, don’t you think I know you at all? Don’t you think I’ve been here the whole time? Of course that’s the song.”

So I guess we definitely have our song 🙂
