I am debating about wedding shoe height... I am 5'4 - 5'5 and my FI is 5'11 , I found the perfect pair of shoes that I have been looking for BUT their 4 inches high.... making me 5'8- 5'9 .... is that a bad combo for wedding photos with my FI? I don't want to look the same height as him but at the same time if I need to look shorter I could just take the shoes off right ? Help me out here Bee's

If you ended up being the same height at your FI in photos, that'd mean you had 7" heels on and I think that would look ridiculous :) Being 2-3" shorter than your FI is not a bad combo for wedding photos. If so, I'm screwed!

I don't think that would be a problem!  Especially if they are your perfect shoes!  If you and FI are concerned you could bring a pair of flats for pictures just in case.

I personally will never have this problem...at 5 feet tall, I could wear the tallest shoes possible and still be shorter than my 5'9" FI.  I guess it's one of the few benefits of being short.

Keep in mind that if he's wearing dress shoes they will give him some extra height as well. I don't think you have a problem.

I don't have this problem as I am 5'2 and DH is 6' and I have never worn 10" heels LOL!

However, do you mind pictures of yourself in heels next to your FI? Does your FI mind? If no one cares I would just go for it. Or if you are worried about it just go for a lower heel - they will probably be more comfortable anyway ;-)

I don't think you will have a problem at all.  Can the two of you take a few pictures with you each wearing the shoes you'll wear at the wedding to see how it looks?

As for me, I'm 5'4" and my husband is 5'11" and I love high heels.  I like being almost able to look him in the eye!

I'm very concerned about height in my photos. He's very very tall and I'm very very short. I don't want our pics to look awkward so I'm planning on wearing 4" heels.

I think anything from 1" to 6" is a good height for pictures. just don't make your hair too tall!

I'm 5'5" barefoot and my FI is 6'3" barefoot. I am wearing 4" heels which will put me at 5'9" and figure my FI's shoes will prob add 1/2-1 inch I guess. So our height difference will be 7.5-8 inches.

I'm 5'7 and FI is 6'0. In my ceremony heels I will be 5'9 and in my reception heels I will be 5'11. I actually prefer being closer in height to my FI so I don't think you'll have any issues if you're wanting to wear high heels.

In my bare feet I am 5'5" tall and my Filipino finace stands 5' even - we are a cute couple and it looks fine in pictures.

I think you will be fine no matter what shoes you wear - I have seen pictures of taller/shorter all ways and it is the love and hope that shows in the pictures not hte height

I'm 5'1", he's 5'10", and my shoes are about 4.5"...so we'll be about 5" different on the wedding day :-)

I think you'll be fine! I've joked that I need to find stilts because I'm 5'4" and he's 6'5", so even when I have 4" heels on I look like a kid next to him. :)

I think a 2" difference looks good in pictures.

We had about a 2-3" height difference when I had my heels on, which is pretty good in my opinion, but keep in mind that your photographers are probably clever enough to put the two of you in physical arrangements where you'll look aesthetically good no matter what. We did a lot of our formal wedding portraits on stairs, and our photographers had my husband stand on the step above me to increase the appearance of our height difference.

I'm 5'4" and DH is 6'6", so, there is quite a bit of height difference.  He always giggles at our wedding picture above the fireplace.  I barely, barely reach his shoulder.  I would have worn heals on our wedding day, but it was icy/snowy and I didn't want to risk a broken ankle. lol

For pictures it's actually better to be closer in height, I think anyway! I'm 5'3" and FI is just over 6'2". I wore 4 inch heels and it was still a little awkward trying to pose for pictures while standing because he was still towering almost 8 inches over me. I say your shoes will work out perfectly!

I'm 5'11" and my FI is 6'2". So even though he's three inches taller, I'll be wearing flats because they're more comfortable. So we'll stay at our three-ish inch difference.

Barefoot, I'm 5'6 and my FI is 5"7.

On the day of, I will still be wearing 4 inch heels and, thankfully, my FI doesn't care, so I will be about 2 inches taller. Oh well......

One of you could always sit----

I am 5'9 no shoes, he is 6'4". He wears 1" cowboy boots, and I wear 4" heels.

Totally opposite problem - he's 5'10" and I'm 5'11 1/2" . Even if he wears lifts and I wear flats, the best we can hope for is being the same height :( But I will probably wear heels and be 2-3" taller than him. Ho hum...

In my book as long as the man is taller than the girl, it's all good! :)

My FI with shoes on is 6'10"-6'11". I am 5'5" and will be wearing 5 inch heels (platform toes) to try and make pictures a little more even.. We will still have a foot difference though :( I need mini stilts :)

I am 5'3" and FH is 5'8" so if I wore 4" heels like I wanted to, we'd be practically the same height, which I don't want. So my heels are 2-2.5" so there's a good 2.5-3" height difference.

Well I'm 5'9 and he is 5'10 and I refuse to wear flats so the pictures will be interesting for sure.

I'm 4'11" and he is 5'10" - no problems with heels, here. LOL  I think the shoes I'm going to choose are 4 inches, so I'll be a whopping 5'3" Cool

You'll be fine.  Don't forget that HIS shoes will give him an extra inch or so too.

I was afraid I'd be taller than DH - as I am sometimes when we go out or if I'm wearing heels and he's barefoot.  But, that definitely wasn't the case on the wedding day.

    I'm 5'6.75, wore 3.75" shoes - which put me at 5"10.5

DH is 5'11 - and was easily taller than I was (the top of my head came to the mid point of his forehead... it was perfect!)

I actually wish we were closer in height!  I'm 5'1'' and he's 6'1''.  But I HATE wearing really high heels; they always make my feet cry.  I can't imagine I'll be in anything higher than 3'' heels on the wedding day, possibly closer to 2''.  Hopefully we'll still look ok.

Heels are not a problem at all for me. My FI is a foot taller than I am.

For the ceremony I will be wearing flats because we will be standing for 90 min. I am worried that his dress shoes will make him even taller tham he already is.

I am 5'3" on a good day and FI is 6'1.

I feel so short next to him but I love it because I feel like he can protect me and I am the perfect height to hug his butt

Haha, I'm 5'0 on a good day and FI is 6'2.  So even with 4 inch heels he'll tower over me and our pictures will look ridiculous.  But we're used to it!

@shannon marie: So glad I'm not the only one! FI is a whole 4 inches shorter than me if neither of us are wearing shoes. I found the perfect shoes but they made me able to see OVER his head.
