Old: 18th century lace my mum sourced for her own wedding dress sewn into my garter (will feel dredful when I have to cut it off the sleeves of her dress!)

New: My dress. (Not very original!)

Old and borrowed:  My grandmother's wedding band on my right hand - tied around my bouquet if it doesn't fit on my finger

    New: Dress/jewelry

Blue: This was going to be my shoes but I decided they were just too high.  So now I'll just count my wedding band since we decided to do sapphires instead of diamonds. Smile

    New: the dress

Old, Borrowed and Blue: My grandma's hankerchief.  It has her initial embroidered in blue.

I may try to come up with a couple others that fit in one of those three catagories, but for now that's my plan.

...and a lucky penny for your shoe

DD (and it seems many bees here) don't ever mention that or have heard of it. ?  I made one for my shoe from two heart-shaped pieces of lace that sandwhiched the penny and of course saved it with my wedding things.

I hope my daughter will accept and wear one from me: we saved it and put it in her baby book a long time ago when DH and I found it out on those endless walks you do at the end of pregnancy trying to bring on labour.  When I bent over to pick it up off the ground the first great contraction hit.  It will go in some of that same lace and then it can be her something old as well.

@geminidream: I think that's so sweet. I hadn't heard of the penny thing until after my wedding, or I would have done it. I read something (here, I think) about a bride who was given the same penny her mom wore in her shoe on her wedding day and had saved. I thought it was a wonderful story.

Old: My pearl engagement ring/earrings/necklace. They belonged to my surrogate mother, and had been in her family for almost a century before she gave them to DH to give to me.

New: My dress, althought it could also be shoes or veil.

Borrowed: A string pearl bracelet from my SIL. She'd tried to gift it to me before the wedding, but I insisted she loan it to me until after the wedding, so it could be my something borrowed.

    Blue: My garter.

Old: the diamond ring and tennis bracelet that were given to my cousin's mother as presents from her husband 50+ years ago.

    New: the usual, dress

Borrowed: I carried my sister's rosary with my bouqet. She carried it during her wedding a little over 3 years earlier.
