I’m 2.5 months away and thinking about how to look my best on the big day. I am a low maintenance girl and don’t really “beautify” myself much…I’ve never had a facial, wax of any kind, special hair treatments, tanning, etc.
What’s on your list of pre wedding treatments? Right now I am planning on getting two facials and eyebrow shaping. Anything else bees are doing? Suggestions?
I just got my hair trimmed..do I need another trim closer to the wedding if I’m getting an updo?

@cestvrai: i’m already married, but here was what i did:
i got a facial every three weeks for about 6 months before the wedding (at the time i was on a weird birth control and was having issues getting my skin under control, so this helped a lot). i also used this time to consult with the esthetician about what routines/products i should be using at home, which also helped perfect my skin for the day. i had my last facial about 10 days before the wedding.
i had a very strict skincare regime leading up to the wedding, as mentioned above. i cleansed, toned (astringent to help keep it clear and keep pinkness down) and moisturized with an SPF every day leading up to the wedding for about six months, and took my makeup off EVERY NIGHT (this is very important!)
i got my hair trimmed about two weeks before my wedding. since the recommendation is a trim every 10-12 weeks for women with long hair, youll be fine if you do it again. you may want to since youll be in photos for the rehearsal, etc without an updo, but its probably not all that important.
i got my hair colored when i got it trimmed, about 10 days before the wedding.
other than that, i just worked out a lot – probably 5 days a week for the 3 months leading up to the wedding. some girls do eyebrow shaping (i break out from it so its not for me), eyelash extensions (i have long lashes so i skipped that, it’s also pricey), body wraps, etc.

@TwoStatesBride: thanks for sharing! I’m sure everything can really start to add up if you do lots of different treatments like body wraps and eyelash extensions etc. I didn’t realize you could break out from brow waxing..will definitely keep that in mind.
Anyone else? What beauty regimens are you following?
also curious about any good products bees have found to be effective for exfoliating, moisturizing, and such

I have crazy sensitive skin (prone to eczema if I’m not careful), so there is no way in hell I will be having a facial. I just make sure to wash my face every night that I am wearing makeup with a very gentle cleanser, if not, a splash of cold water will suffice. I make sure to use a SPF moisturiser everyday and a gentle light moisturiser at night. I used to use joboa oil as a eye serum and it made a big difference when I was using it. Unfortunately, I have started to get a reaction from it so no more for me….
I have been growing out my eyebrows (so so painful) these last few months in an attempted to reverse years of over plucking and waxing. I’m undecided if I will get my brows waxed professionally or just tidy up my brows my self.
I got my hair trimmed last week so I wont need to cut it again before the wedding.
I plan to use a gradual tanner (in a moisturiser) to get a bit of colour, as I am terrified of having a reaction to spray tan (again, thanks to my sensitive skin).
I will get my nails done 2 or 3 days before the wedding but no other big treatments planned.
Oh, I am also making sure to exercise regularly and am trying to tidy up my diet.

@cestvrai: oh yeah. i break out HORRIBLY from waxing, and moderately from threading. my skin is just really sensitive and easily irritated like that. i can tweeze just fine, it’s the procedures where lots of hair is removed in a semi-painful way that make me break out. it’s bad!

I was married in November.
Before the wedding I invested in some good skin care products from Philosophy (a face wash/lotion set and an exfoiliation set) that I used daily and exfoliated the night before the wedding. I got my final hair cut/color touch up 10 days before the wedding. I did brow, upper lip and bikini waxing like 4 days before the wedding. I got my nails done 2 days before the wedding.
I also did a teeth whitening regimine for the final month and I looked silly but I drank coffee or soda through a straw.

@cestvrai: I don’t have big plans as of right now, but I do know I would like to tan a few times prior to the wedding because I don’t want to be super pale. Not so much that I look too dark, but just so I look less pasty lol. I am also going to pay a visit to my sister’s eyebrow guru. She is amazing and I can’t wait to see what she can do for me. Other than that, I am just trying to keep my skin under control and and will get a my hair trimmed a few times before the wedding. Lastly, I will go out with my girls for a pre-wedding mani! I can’t wait for that…I need it badly!

All I did was add in a mask to my regular routine twice a week.

I did 1 1/2 rounds of Insanity and dropped 12 pounds. I wasn’t overweight, but I definitely needed to tone up.
I got my hair trimmed regularly – it’s long and curly so I normally tend to be lazy with this. Plus my preferred stylist is 45 minutes away.
I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I had two makeup and two hair trials.
I went tanning, but didn’t get very dark because we had a fall wedding and I didn’t want to look weird.

Retin A Micro.
I started it up about 4 months before the wedding – I swear that stuff works miracles. It made my face look amazing. I don’t have acne but it made my face look absolutely flawless with zero of my fine lines.

I have two derm appointments between now and May. Both for acne and at the second one, I’ll get my Botox redone as well.
I plan to get my hair trimmed a month before, my brows the week before, and my lady bits the week of.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to get my nails done, but I’m definitely getting a pedicure the day before. Perhaps a massage too. 🙂
Until the big day, I’ll just continue my normal skincare regimen and cross fingers that everything looks good on the day of!

@cestvrai: In order from now til our wedding in May:
March 1st (approx. 2 months out) – begin exfoliant cleanswer, per MUA.
Color appt in early March for my shower weekend
April 1st (approx 1 month in advance) – begin teeth whitening kit (Christmas gift) and tanning (I know, I know, but I look so much better with one!!)
First weekend in April – facial appt – another Christmas gift
Mid April – final haircut/trim. (It takes about 2-3 weeks for my hair to re-gain its flare after a cut!)
Weekend before wedding – final color appt
3 days before wedding – get pedicure
Day before wedding – get manicure
I think that is ‘all’ for me!!

My skin is super sensitive and will break out at the drop of a hat. I’ve also got a lot of skin allergies and sensitivities and my legs and arms will get eczema in the summer and winter. With this in mind, my skin care regieme hasn’t changed much. I wash with Bert’s Bees Naturals Sensitive Skin acne scrub. I use Neutrogena Rapid Clear spot remover pads on any large break outs. I moisturize with Simple brand replenishing moisturizer. I don’t wear much in the way of makeup and what I do wear is Physician’s Formula talc-free mineral powder. It knocks the shine off without being too heavy, and washes off with minimal effort.
Drinking lots of water and taking Biotin also helps keep the breakouts to a minimum.

Loving reading all these!!
I guess I can add a little more detail about my plans too:
3 eyebrow shaping sessions (got this through Groupon! Woo!)
Mani/pedi day before wedding
Tanning outside as soon as it’s warm enough!
Maybe another hair trim couple weeks before
and working out of course 🙂
I might also switch to a better shampoo for the next few months because my hair has been looking damaged lately.
Also started using a whitening mouthwash but haven’t really noticed a difference yet!
