A little getting to know you question.
I'm a professional blogger, and there isn't anything else I'd rather be doing. Except maybe running a no kill animal shelter, but that's a dream for when I'm a bit older. ![]()
Your turn!
I'm the Weddingbee Community Coordinator and yes, I love it.
:)
Aww Jasmine. My best friend is a lawyer and she doesn't love it either :(
I am a Crime Scene Investigator and love my job despite the funky hours and stressful nature of the job.
I'm an aerospace engineer and some days I love it (I work with satellites, rockets and spaceraft...cool) and other days its extremely stressful and I dont.
I would much rather own a small bakery or craft store.
I'm in Advertising Sales for a newspaper. There are times when I love it - no 9-5 office hours, press passes, free city ballet tickets, AMAZING coworkers but sometimes not so much - unsteady income, being a "solicitor".
What I really wish for is one of these days I will do wedding photography and make cards/invitations on the side when my wedding is over!!
I'm a nurse, and I definitely don't love it.....I used to, but I think I've kind of gotten burned out.
Mrs. Jasmine - I'm a lawyer too and I DO NOT love it. I wish I loved my job...my husband loves his job and it makes me so jealous.
I run the front desk at an office. I definitely don't love it, esp. when it looks so incredibly lame and talentless next to lawyers, aerospace engineers, and crime scene investigators. Ugh.
The worst part is that I DON'T know what I'd rather be doing. I was the kid that never had an answer to the "what do you want to do when you grow up?" question...and I still don't.
So glad my English degree is getting me somewhere.
*sigh*
I do a bunch of mail- and data-related things for a cancer research organization in Boston (Dana-Farber, for all the Bostonians in Weddingbee land). I interned in the same office during my last year of college and jumped at a full-time position that opened up just as my internship was ending.
I don't love my job; the work I do is monotonous and pretty boring in itself, but I absolutely adore my co-workers, the mission of the organization, and the smiles and happy "hello!"s that I get from every single person I see at work. It's the most positive place I've ever been in my life. I laugh every single day, which is great.
I don't always enjoy my job, but I enjoy the knowledge that people benefit from it. I feel lucky to have had a job right out of college. And I have absolutely no idea what I want to "do with my life," so I don't know what I would be doing if I wasn't doing this. I do hate sitting down, though; not just in a work setting -- pretty much anytime. I miss my retail job from college because it allowed me to be on my feet all day.
For a while I thought I would eventually try to switch to another department within the same organization, one where I could make use of my journalism degree...but the only type of writing I enjoy anymore is blogging. College journalism classes killed much of my love of writing.
I love both my jobs.
My full time job is as an Registered Nurse on a oncology/med surg floor. It's busy and chaotic and crazy. I love it!
My part time job is a Nursing Clinicals instructor at the local community college. I love this too! I make great money and it's super easy. It's also a great feeling to re-assure the baby nurses that it's all going to be ok. I love this job so much I am considering going back to school for my master's in Nursing Education.
I'm a lawyer, and I love my job, but I work at a kick ass firm, they are few and far between!
I'm a product and packaging designer for a gift ware/home goods company. I love it! One day I'm designing a piggy bank and the next I'm designing logos. It gets stressful but it's always fun:)
I consult for the drinking water industry. I don't hate it, but I don't LOVE it either.. I wish I could do something more arts and crafty... bleh.
I'm an investment banker. I enjoy working with my colleagues (who are pretty atypical for bankers) and I'm learning a lot in order to set myself up for my dream job. I can't say I actually love it though, since ultimately I don't see myself continuing in this field.
What I really loved was surgery-- although I knew if I made a career out of it I'd be miserable.
My ideal job, then, is blending my healthcare and finance background to run a nonprofit; hopefully that'll materialize in the next 5-10 years.
Technically im still in school, but i'll be a behavior analyst (sooner or later...)! So far I love it! You get to work with kids of all ages, the hours are flexible & you have the opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of those children.
I'm a preschool teacher, and I definitely love love LOVE it!
The kids are so great, and no two days are the same. I have so many funny stories, my mom keeps trying to convince me to write a book. :)
Currently, I'm a student, but I'm finished with classes and starting my externships. In May, I will graduate and be a speech-language pathologist! I'm so excited! I LOVE this career choice and in times like this when people are losing jobs and struggling to keep their homes, I have people trying to hire me months before I even graduate!
I'm a photographer and professional blogger (totally separate from each other).
Both professions satisfy me in different ways. I am absolutely in love with them both. I know that I'm lucky to be able to have two super cool jobs!
I am a lawyer, and like so many others, don't like my job. Why did no one tell us of this outcome before we endured law school? :)
I'm an interior designer & I LOVE it! There is so much more I want to do with it, but I am just peachy for now.
:)
I work in undergraduate admissions for a university. I usually love it but it's crazy application reading time right now so thank goodness for the hive to keep me sane!
I'm a reporter and editor for a newspaper group that publishes 22 weeklies. I love lots of things about it, but it's not the best fit with my personality (I'm pretty high-strung and the stress gets to me).
I'd love to do something a little more creative and more stable, especially with the newspaper industry the way it is right now. Does that combination even exist?
My husband and I are both teachers and we both love our jobs! I teach High School English and he teaches Middle School History. If it weren't for politics and grading, teaching would not even be work!
For all the lawyers out there -- my husband went to boalt, practiced law for a year, and decided he hated it. So, he quit and went back to school to be a teacher!
I am a librarian and I really like it! It's not too stressful and every day is different.
I'm an athletic trainer and I LOVE it. For those who don't know, an athletic trainer is the one who runs out on the football field when someone gets hurt, lol.
I work most of my day in a physical therapy clinic, helping people of all ages get back on thier feet and in shape. THe other time I am at a high school making sure all the student athletes are healthy andready to play.
I get to help people each and every day, what's not to love about that?
I am a Paramedic and I am also training in Search and Rescue. I love it! I am so blessed that when I get up to go to work it isnt a chore but an enjoyment and a challenge!
I'm a teacher right now. I work at an after school program, so it's not a "real" teacher as some would say. I LOVE the kids and most of my coworkers. My director is annoying and other stupid drama & office politics. But, it's a part time job and when you are wanting to buy a house you need a full time job. I don't think I want to go into actual teaching, so not sure what to do with myself. Anyone have any ideas for someone with a BA in Child & Adolescent Development?
My hubby is a firefighter and LOVES his job and always knew what he wanted to do so he's doesn't quite get how I'm still trying to figure it out for myself.
@Crabcake- I loved Hem/Onc. I am an RN too for a children's hospital. I like my job- but is certainly depends on the day. Currently I am in a Masters Degree program working on my CNS/PNP. I love being in a continuing education program, it is re-energizing my interest in my profession. It is just time to get more involved is all.
I'm a lawyer and I LOVE it!!!! I'm sorry to hear that so many other lawyers are so unsatisfied with their jobs :-(
If I wasn't a lawyer I'd want to be an event planner or I'd want to have have a ranch where a bunch of homeless animals could live. I guess that's not really a job but it's my ultimate dream.
PowderPuff you have my dream job! I want to own a preschool/daycare -- but that's my not-gonna-happen-for-years-dream!
I'm currently a Human Resources professional, 8-5 desk work, pretty boring, I need more people interaction -- you would think HR I would have more interaction with people but I don't, ugh. Today was a particularly frustrating day.
Hola Bees,
I am a Physician Assistant in my own Dermatology practice, well a partner with 2 docs. I Love what I do, particularly Derm for the wide range of patients (babies, kids, teens, vain women like myself, and the elderly) as well as surgery/procedures, lasers, and augmentations! I also am blessed to be a partner and run my own practice as there aren't many in my position. Lastly so very blessed to be in recession proof Medicine!
I love the wide range of occupations everyone on the bee has!
I'm a photographer and graphic artist in the Air National Guard. I work full time with a counterdrug program (they provide training for law enforcement, recon drug deals and educate kids on the effects of drugs) as a full-time guardsman doing all their promotional (brochures, flyers, annual reports, website, etc.) work.
LOVE IT! There is no place that would pay me what I get paid and give me the benefits that the military does doing what I love to do.
I'm an elementary school special education teacher. I love my job and I get to work with some of the most creative people ever. I think I will always work in education, I just don't know that I'll be in the classroom forever.
I'm a clinical pharmacist. I don't love my job, but i don't hate it either. It pays well and get me by. I wish I could do something more fun with my life, but I don't have very many creative skills. Somedays I wish I just went to medical school, since it takes just as long. If I went, I'd almost be done with residency. Sigh. Or I wish I took dance when I was younger and became a dancer. Oh well, this is the life I chose. Can't turn back now because of all the debt.
I am a nanny and a student studying Human Services and Sociology. I like both- I am anxious to be finished with school, and I have learned so much about infants and children and families as a nanny.
im almost a pharmacist (student). i love it...i love being in the hospital...
I work in Facilities at a large law firm. I do love it when we're busy, dealing with problems, helping staff, catering, etc. But I'm bored 95% of the time and the days just draaaaaag. I will be making a change this year, so I'm excited to see where I end up!
