It all depends on how you use it. $3500 honestly won’t take you very far with 75-100 guests, but could be possible depending on where you have it, what time of day, and what food/entertainment you offer. A cake and champagne reception in your backyard would be lovely if that is the budget you want to stick to!

I can’t imagine how you’re going to feed/entertain 100 people on $3500 unless you do a cake/punch (or no) reception! But go you!

We’ve invited ~160, are expecting around 120, and are spending 25k+. We didn’t really have a budget, per say – just some money my parents were giving us, some money his parents gave us, and we didn’t want to go in debt. We haven’t tracked EVERY penny, but most of our contracts (aka the easily trackable stuff ;)) put us at 22k – we’re figuring we’ve probably spend around 4 or 5k on just other little stuff (invitation printing, stamps, gifts, shoes…hotels were almost 2k by themseves!)

Our budget started out at $30K and then became $40K and then we ended up spending about $47K, not including the honeymoon. I’m not the best at adhering to a budget. 😉

anhelms: We are trying to stay at $15,000 but will probably go over with last minute things a couple thousand.

What kind of wedding are you having? We’re having about the same amount of people and the catering alone is looking like $5,000.

Our budget is 20K for 150 guests. We got lucky with a few things, our DJ is a business associate and doing our wedding at half price, I work for a printing company so all of my print materials are free, and my dress/veil/shoes/jewelry are all “gifts” that are not added to my overall budget.

Right now it’s about $35K, not including rings, honeymoon, etc. I guess we’ll see where we end up!

We also don’t have an exact budget, but it’s looking like things will end up in the 50-60K range, depending on how many people actually come (we’re inviting around 150, but hoping for 125-130). That also doesn’t include rings or our honeymoon.

anhelms: Our budget is slightly over 2,000. Not including my dress. My man and I are paying for everything on our own. No help with parents or family. Our guest count is 115 or so. We’re buying Cheesecakes, pies, and cookies for dessert. For food, we’re buying Panda Express. It’s going to cost about 550 for dinner and 75 bucks for desserts. Our venue was free. So decorations, food/drink and bridal party stuff is what’s costing us.

Haven’t actually started planning, but my parents are giving us 5k. Our guest list will not exceed 60 people. We do have a few savings – my cousin will do make-up, my sister’s photography company will take my photos, we are having the wedding on my FH’s parents’ farm, the farm is a sunflower farm, so major score on flowers, and we are considering only sending out printed invitations to old non-tech savvy people.

I plan on buying the dress myself

One thing to note, I live in South Africa, and have noticed things tend to be much cheaper than in the states

Why create a thread asking everyone what their budget is, and then follow it up with “there’s no point in spending more than _____!” I guess I just don’t understand how that is supposed to inspire discussion. My budget is more than that, but since you’ve already deemed it pointless, I don’t really feel the need to share it.

As for your question about whether your budget is “normal,” are you asking if it is average? Because it is not…but that clearly shouldn’t matter. If it works for you…and it sounds like you’re having exactly the day you want…then that’s all that’s important.
