We did ours about 3 months before the wedding. But that was mostly because my mother insisted so we would have time to tweak it a little.

Fiance and I already did our registry about a month ago, though we’ll be living in different cities until the wedding so that was part of the reason. I know a lot of couples do it 9 months to a year ahead of time. We can go online and edit our registry, take off and add things, and no one will see it until a couple months before anyway.

Our wedding is in March, and we registered a couple weeks ago.  We have a LDR, so we just did it when it was convenient, plus I was too excited about it to wait. lol!  We can edit ours online also, so I figured why not start early!?!

We did ours last month so that was right around 3 months from the wedding.

We did our last summer (I guess 6 months before), but I had an early shower in September.

If I had to do it again, I would do it even earlier.  Registering took far longer and was far more painful that we expected.  It would have been nice to have built in breaks so we weren’t at the stores every week.

If you’re registering for seasonal stuff, you might want to wait until a couple of months before your wedding, because you don’t want to have a lot of discontinued items.  That can get annoying.  We were lucky and didn’t have too many, but my sister (who got married last September) had a lot.

We registered about 5 – 4.5 months before the wedding and 2 months before our showers.  It does take quite a bit of time.  I didn’t want to register too early because I didn’t want to deal with discontinued items.

Our registry is already going strong at http://www.MyRegistry.com... which I know is crazy early and means lots of editing to avoid discontinued items, but I was really excited haha! And I know that family will want to use it for xmas, birthdays, etc (they did that when my sister was getting married) so I might as well! So basically whenever I’m bored I’ve been browsing online and updating my registry… it’s so addicting!

What I think you can gather from the very varied responses in this thread is that you can really register whenever you want. Good luck!

I don’t know if we were late, but we didn’t build our registries until about 3 months out from the wedding. We’d already sent out save the dates by that point. We thought as long as we registered before my shower, we were OK.

I did mine 9 months before our wedding date. It took the stress out of the equation cause we had plenty of time. You just need to keep up with it a bit to see if certain items went out of stock, etc.

We did ours when we got engaged.  I thought that was a little early but Future Mother-In-Law wanted us to since we were having an engagement party, it has definitely helped since we got a bunch of stuff off of it.
