Okay, so I have booked my venue awhile ago. But I’ve just come up with an interesting question. I’m not planning on setting up my decorations the day of the wedding, there’s just too much else to worry about, right? To all DIYer’s when did you set up? Apparently I have to rent the venue the night before if I want to ensure that I can set it up the night before. Maybe I should have just gotten a decorator, so much easier! What is the norm here? Anyone?

I’ve rented my venue for 3 hours the day before… 7pm-10pm.

I have the optiont to rent the venue the day before by the hour but since we have it all day on the wedding day and I have a DOC and her assistant… We are probably just going to do it the day of in the morning!

We set up everything the day of the wedding (we had our venue 4 hours prior to the wedding.)

we are setting up in the morning. We have it all day so it is easy (from 7am anyway)

I am planning on setting up the day before, and possibly into the day of if I don’t finish. Decorating will go on as long as it has to.

i’m sort of worried about this too, even though we will have the day before so I am just being obsessive. What I am doing for sure is floor plans marking where everything goes, and one for the table set-up too, so once I get there i know exactly what to do and can recruit help from others by handing them a sheet 🙂

I can go in the day before to do some set up since our ceremony and reception is at the same location. The venue requested the dance floor, up lighting, and pipe and drape be installed/delivered the day before anyway so I will do some setup before rehearsal. My best friend will finish up the rest for me the following day.

@kellsweddingbells: it’s norm here that you rent for the day off, but get access the day before

Our tables and chairs will arrive by 1 p.m. the day of the ceremony. We’ll set up then, and finish things off in the one-hour gap between ceremony and reception.
I’m SOOOOO nervous, but I have no other choice — it’s our friends’ home! We are going very light on the decorations, though, so there’s not much to set up.
I made a day-of schedule last night, and it looks next to impossible, but my mom and her friends are party planning whizzes, so I bet they can handle it.

Our venue gives the option to rent a 4 hour block the day before the reception. My Future Mother-In-Law actually knows the owner and he waived the rental fee and is giving us the whole day before to decorate. We kinda lucked out on that one!

We’re doing all the lights the day before (for the rehearsal dinner), and the rest of it the morning of. Not ideal, but hopefully it’ll just take a couple hours and then we can relax and get ready…

We are setting up the day before. which is going to be hectic as all the seating, tables, food and drink is arriving and we have to decorate. But no way were we going to do it morning of

That’s what I’m paying my caterer for! They decorate and clean up the day of.

We are renting the building the day of and the day before. [5 hour blocks], 10 hours the day of, and 5 hours the day before.
Basically, we’ll decorate the venue, then head to the rehearsal dinner, and then maybe back to decorate if its not done.
