When are you leaving for your honeymoon? This is the topic that seems to be getting a lot of thought with Mr. FF and I. We are really thinking about leaving the monday after our wedding weekend.
What are you guys doing?
Our wedding is on Saturday....and we are flying out at 5am on Monday. If we left Sunday, we would have had an overnight layover and this gives us a chance to come home, open gifts, eat some of our wedding cake, wish our families goodbye, bring my dress back to our house, pack, and make sure my cats have enough food, water, and a clean poopy box before we jet off for 7 days.
Less stress in my opinion.
We haven't quite figured out when our honeymoon will be but I have a sneaky suspicion it won't be until about next summer =(...
My FI and I decided for both time and money reasons we are taking our honeymoon next year. Our wedding is this July and this summer is full of friends and family weddings as well.
We are doing some major saving for our honeymoon and hopefully since we are putting it off till next year we will have a good amount to spluge with a bit... Very excited!
We have decided to wait until about Jan-Feb (our weddings in Aug) we had a prior trip planned in October to go to Scotland for 10 days with his family so we needed to space out some of the vacation time
We are flying out that Monday after our wedding. Flight leaves at 6 am and we have guests we have to take to the airport on that Sunday. We thought we would give ourselves a day to rest a little before heading to Hawaii!!!! I think Monday makes a lot of sense!!!
I thought it would be nice to wait until the late fall or winter after the wedding for our honeymoon. That way we could go to the southern hemisphere & enjoy nice weather while it's frigid here in Colorado. However, my FI wants to leave for the honeymoon immediately! I think the compromise will be to wait a few days after our Saturday wedding. Somewhere in the range of the following Monday thru Wednesday.
We haven't booked it yet but in our ideal world, we'd be leaving Sunday (our wedding is Saturday evening). I just want to get away asap!
We are getting married Saturday and leaving Monday morning. It was just going to be too stressful to fly out on Sunday, and the flight is cheaper this way. I think giving yourself a day to take care of last minute things is a great idea.
We are getting married Saturday and leaving Monday morning. It is an out of town wedding for a lot of our guests, so we are planning to spend the weekend with our family/friends (esp. since it is Labor Day).
We're getting married on Saturday and will fly out Tuesday morning. We wanted to hang out with friends and family over the rest of the weekend and then have a day to ourselves to detox and pack. We didn't want to rush things!
Our wedding is a destination/vacation wedding in July. We're staying there for a few days after the wedding to relax before coming home (we'll be out there a week total). And then we're saving our honeymoon for December/January so we can go to the Southern Hemisphere and take a couple weeks.
We're getting married in my hometown on Saturday, driving back to Chicago on a Monday, and leaving around noon on Tuesday for our honeymoon. We got great daels on airfare since we're flying on Tuesday(s).
We are getting married Saturday evening and flying out Monday morning. I'm glad we have a day in between to bring out stuff back home, pack, maybe open some gifts, and get a good nights rest!
We are getting married on Saturday...family BBQ on Sunday...flying out at 6am Monday morning :)
Our wedding is Sunday, we'll come home from the wedding weekend on Monday, and check into our cabin (within driving distance) Tuesday evening. I think this is what Miss Cheese called a "bonus day" and I think it'll be good for us... a day to relax, a day to pack.
We are getting married on Saturday night and leaving first thing in the morning on our honeymoon. We cannot wait to have our fruity drinks in hand poolside. I think we are getting more excited about the honeymoon than the wedding itself.
We're leaving about two months later, due to scheduling conflicts. I wish we could leave sooner, though. It is going to be such a long wait!
We're getting married on Friday night, enjoying a full day on Saturday with our guests, and leaving first thing Sunday morning for Hawaii! Can't wait...for all of it!
We are getting married on a Saturday night and flying out Monday morning. We will be staying in the Ritz between the two, so I really consider Saturday night to be the start of our honeymoon. I'm excited, however, about being able to have brunch with our families on Sunday and recap all the wedding fun!
I clicked the "Other" category of the poll. We're getting married in NYC on Memorial Day Sunday 2010, then probably leaving Wednesday to fly halfway around the world for a second reception (where FH's family's from) the following weekend, then probably leaving straight from there for a honeymoon in that area - confusing I know, I don't even want to start to think about coordinating that!
We have a week and a half between the wedding and when we leave for the honeymoon. It's a cruise so the departure date was pretty set. We chose not to have the wedding the weekend right before the departure date since it's an out-of-town wedding for us and we didn't want to have to rush back from one trip and right into another. We didn't have leave to waste though so I have to go back to work for like 5 days in between. I doubt I will be exhibiting much productivity those days (just like I am now!) ha ha ha!
We left for our minimoon after the wedding weekend (WAAAAY to much stuff to do to leave the next morning), but we wont take our actual honeymoon until later in the year.
We are leaving three days after our wedding - we'll recoup a day, fly back to our home and repack one day, and head out the next day!
Wedding Saturday in Santa Barbara. We return to San Francisco (home) on Sunday. We leave for Peru on Tuesday morning. :)
I clicked other! Due to immigration issues... I can't leave the US after we marry until my adjustment of status goes through & I become a permanent resident. This could take a loooong time. So in the interm, we'll end up in Hawaii within a week of our wedding. Neither of us will consider it our honeymoon...
Our dream honeymoon (that we'll take once I'm free to travel) is renting a villa on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. I fell in love after watching a Food network special with Jamie Oliver lol. It's so gorgeous there!!
Wedding is Saturday and we're leaving Sunday after brunch. I'm so excited to spend a week with my new husband! (Especially since he's put a ton of work into it, and I don't know much of anything!)
I voted "other" because we left about 3.5 hours after the reception ended. I would not recommend this. We were both so exhausted driving to the airport, sitting in the airport, getting on our planes, etc... that it was kinda miserable. I think if you leave at least 24 hours between the end of the reception and leaving for the honeymoon, you'll be fine. :)
Since we are planning to take our honeymoon over my spring break, we're leaving the next morning--maximize our vacation without having to fly out at 2AM after the wedding (which may not even be possible!) :)
We took ours a month after the wedding. We both had to go back to grad school and finish up the semester before the honeymoon! It was great because it functioned as a graduation trip and honeymoon!
We're leaving the Sunday after our wedding, our wedding is on a Friday though, so that gives us a day to kind of recover and pack. I always liked the idea of just taking off right after the wedding, it seems so romantic, but in reality I don't think it's often the best way to go about it. I know my FI wanted to wait a while, just to give us some time to recooperate from the wedding but I was pretty insistant on going within a week of our wedding.
Our wedding is a Saturday, and our flight is Tuesday. Our wedding is Columbus Day Weekend, so we are expecting some guests to stick around, and we'd like to be here in case anyone wants to do something fun! We are also having a day-after brunch thing, which is on Sunday. I wanted a bit of time to breathe and pack. We'll be away for two weeks.
I picked other because we are getting married on friday and then the only flight out of Denver that will take us to Punta Cana leaves at 1:15am SUNDAY!!!! There is no way of getting around it, Denver is terrible when it comes to having to go anywhere. We plan to sleep on the flight and take a quick nap during our layover. We will be in Punta Cana 12 hours later.
We got married on Saturday and left for our honeymoon on Monday morning. For us, it was really nice to have some downtime at home before we travelled. We got to open presents, relax and pack for our trip.
I have a friend who left for her honeymoon THE NIGHT of their wedding. The wedding ended at 12 and the honeymoon flight was at 3 AM! We were SO tired on the night of our wedding, I can't imagine having to catch a cross country flight afterwards!
We got married on a Saturday and left on a Tuesday. It was definitely the right decision to have a couple of days to decompress and hang out with out of town family before leaving for our honeymoon.
Our wedding is Friday afternoon and we're leaving first thing Sunday morning. I'm very glad we're not going to be rushed afterward! I need some time to de-stress in order to enjoy the honeymoon!
Wedding was Saturday, sendoff brunch Sunday, and we left for the Honeymoon on Monday. I thought it was perfect timing! Not so rushed, yet not really any lag time to sit down and anticipate the honeymoon!
