I take my BC pill at 4:30 every morning because it’s the only time for me. I’ve tried other times and wasn’t able to take them at the same time every day so I stuck with 4:30 am. Last week I woke up to take my pill and then went back to bed. When I went to go to bed that night I found out that my pill fell in my water and I never took it (first time this has happened). We’ve been waiting to have sex since then because we hate condoms. It has been a week since then and I’m curious. How long do you think we should wait to have sex since this happened? A week, a month, or something else?

You should not have unprotected sex until after your next period. Wait until your cycle ends – otherwise, you may ovulate and get pregnant. You can, of course, have sex with condoms.

Read your info that comes with your pills as it may differ, but I’m pretty sure with my pills (and all different versions I’ve ever taken) they recommend that you use back-up protection for 7 days if you miss a pill and that then you should be fine.

Here are some basic directions for birth control tablets in general, but you can always call your pharmacist and they can go over the directions with you.
Whenever one or two doses are missed, you should use a second method of contraception for the next seven days in addition to taking the pills. If you miss three doses in a row, you should notify your healthcare provider for instructions.
