Hello all! I've been following for a while and finally decided to join in and post now that I'm officially engaged and starting to plan!
I'm young (will be 21 at time of wedding and FI will be 23). We have no debt and are saving money to move in after the wedding and start our lives together. My dad is excited for us, but is also being a giant pain. We have very different views on things -FI and I are traditional Catholics and are more worried about the Mass than the reception and my dad just wants a big party with all of his friends. He tends to make jokes about our ideas and mocks it a lot. I obviously want him to play a part in the wedding and be there for me because he's my father, but it's really hard to want to include him in plans or ask his opinion when he does this!
BTW my FI traveled (about 5 hours each way without me knowing) to speak with my father before asking me and my father gave his blessing, which my dad was happy about and really respected!
Any suggestions?
