We bought both about nine months before the wedding. I'm a planner- didn't want to wait :)
I purchased mine earlier this month, and we'll be buying FH's this week, I think. If you know what you want, I don't think it's too soon to buy.
We bought ours almost a year out :-). They were on sale and the deal was too good to pass up!
We only had 9 weeks to plan the wedding... we had order beautiful (and affordable) titanium rings online. Mine ended up being too small, so we checked out a few jewelry stores and each got a beautiful new band 4 weeks before the wedding. :)
We haven't ordered them yet but I'm hoping to buy them on Black Friday which will be a little more than 10 months before our wedding. Jewelry stores have great BF deals. We should be able to save a couple hundred bucks.
We bought ours at the beginning of Septemeber, and were married on the 24th of September haha
Coughing we have planned everything in about 8 weeks so we were in the less than 3 month range...
As long as you make sure to get your hands it it before the wedding it looks like is ok.. haha. The jewler said it'd take about 2 weeks to get my ring made, so we'll probably go get mine 2-3 months before, just to give a little extra time for the just in case.
@UpstateCait: Great idea with black friday! Never even crossed my mind to add that to my list for the day! :)
Well, FI and I put my ring on a payment plan (obviously) and he wanted it fully paid by the wedding. So, he bought mine about 7-8 months before the wedding. However, with his we ended up waiting until he finally went to go get sized (which I suggested we had done while purchasing mine but he said no) I was FREAKING OUT that if we ordered it any later than 4 months to the wedding we wouldn't get it on time, etc. Well, with just 9 weeks left for the wedding I ordered it and crossed my fingers. It was to our house within a week. I was shocked haha.
We wanted to get as much paid for as soon as we could afford it so we about about 4-6 months before. Sooner you buy them, the sooner you can check it off your list!
We bought them 4 months before, and one jeweller gave us a speech on being so last minute - needless to say we went elsewhere and gave our money to a business owner that was nothing but nice to us.
I don't think it's ever too soon to buy them. We bought them many months before and just kept them at the jeweler until we were ready to insure them.
I don't think there's a too soon as long as you're really sure about the choice. We bought ours about 6 months before because we had the time and money to do it and found what we wanted.
I bought mine about 8 months out because I knew what I wanted. FI still doesn't know what he wants so he hasn't bought one yet... we're about 4 months out now.
We ordered ours a little over a month ago, and we're getting married the day before you are! I don't think it is too soon, although I've had a few people tell me it is. Fi & I wanted to get all the 'big' costs out of the way. The rings came in yesterday! Now Fi is going to pick them up this week and then have his mom keep them in her safe till the wedding. I know if we had them at home I would be itching to wear it =)
Two and a half weeks before. Online.
I don't recommed going our route; we weren't even 100% sure they would get here in time for the wedding. (Fortunately they did.)
To be really honest, we kind of forgot about it. Plus the wedding really snuck up on us. :)
I have been asking FI to call our jeweler for months now to get our bands. He called last week and the jeweler said don't even worry and to come in next month. So we will be ordering about 2 months from the date of the wedding. The jeweler we use isn't part of a big chain or anything and does all his own work so I am not too worried about it. I just wanted to be ahead of the game! lol
This is the best time of year to buy wedding bands. The xmas holiday are coming up and there are TONS of deals out there. Ask any jewellery store....tis the season for killer deals on jewellery!!
We bought our rings about 3 months before our wedding but we ended up buying a new ring for DH on our honeymoon
I just bought mine this weekend because they had a sale instead of 1,000 it was 720. I'm going to bring it with me when I go up to NY next month and have it put in a safe desposit box there until the wedding. I know it is like 8 months in advance but I found what I wanted. He will buy his sometime before when it gets closer since he wants something simple and mine has 12 round cut diamonds.

I'm wondering how close to the wedding to buy the wedding rings, when did you buy your wedding rings? Is it ever too soon to buy them?
