I’d like to hold off, but the more we push stuff off, the more payments are going to be in for the reception. And I’d hate to have to pay for everything at the same time. We’ll be super duper broke, then.
So when did you buy your rings? When would you recommend buying them?

- Wedding: November 2011 - Florida Aquarium
we actually bought ours right after we booked our venue. We knew we’d need them, so why not? It does reeaally help to spread the payments for everything out.

Ours were a custom job. We ordered them around six months before the wedding.

We ordered ours about a month ago. I feel like we did it in a good time frame because it’s early enough to get the bill out of the way and late enough that I’m not tempted very long to wear it!! haha. HE actually made the comment that he can’t wait to weaar his and wants to wear it now loll. Never seen him so excited over jewelry! Good luck!! 🙂

We ordered our rings about a week and a half ago. We decided then so we could get the cost of that done, and so if we needed sizing or anything there would have been plenty of time to get it done.

He already had mine, so we ordered his right after we got engaged, and had the venue set.

I’ve said this before: wait as long as you think you can, and then wear that ring around the house for many days so you can be sure you love it.
if I could do it over, I would have held out until I found the absolutely perfect ring. if I didn’t find it in time for the wedding, I would have gotten a CZ ring as a placeholder. seriously, I wish I had done that.
I bought my ring 1 year before the wedding and regretted it! I thought I couldn’t find anything perfect, and settled on one. later, I ended up not liking the style so much, and it was too late to return it. and then I stumbled across several perfect rings many months later. boo.

We ordered ours about 6 months in advance, but they were custom. And I don’t regret mine in the slightest 🙂

We got ours about 4 months in advance. Any time is appropriate- it’s whatever works best for you and your FI! 🙂 Have fun with it!

Thanks for the responses, ladies!

We ordered them about 5-6 months before hand. They were custom so it took about 4-6 weeks for the entire process from the time we ordered until the time we got them. We also had them engraved which took a few days.
I would recommend to buy them now if you can afford it because gold is going up and things are getting more expensive. I think even from the time we placed the order until the time we picked them up, the bands would have gone up $50 or so because gold was so high. If the venue price is fixed already, I would go and buy the rings before they cost more later.

We get ours a year ahead of time, so maybe a little early. I think DH has a little regret getting his early (but he does love it), but I was happy with the purchases and we love them both now, especially since we exchanged them at our wedding :-). I think really anytime would work, just what is best for you two. Good luck!

I went into our jewelry store out of curiosity one day and priced out my band (custom due to the curve). I thought it seemed high.
About a week or so later, we both went into the jewelry store and “our” jeweler was there. She quoted us a lower price and said she’d give us 15% off both of our rings. We ordered then and there.
Our wedding is next June. We had the rings in hand about 13 months in advance. We didn’t even put them in our budget because we took care of them so early.

ours are atthe jeweller ready to be collected next week. I knew what i wanted so when the sales came up about three months ago i ordered them and they have been on layby since then.
most of our venues/vendors require payments in the last three months prior to the date so i wanted to get as much out of the way as possible, as early as possible. Then i can redirect all spare cash to save for our reception.
