I’m getting married in November 2011 and I want to start buying this stuff but I’m afraid i’ll change my mind ten times before then. But I don’t want to be rushed in the end…heeeellllp!

as long as you have your dress, it’s not too early. i got my shoes almost a year in advance (if you get them from zappos you have a year to return, so it’s fine if you change your mind). everything else i got 2-3 months in advance.

I’m not planning on buying shoes or jewelry until my dress is in so I can make sure they look good with the dress rather than having to return them and start over later if they don’t. So, as long as you’ve got your dress in hand… I’d say go for it!

Shoes- im still looking and i have my first fitting this weekend! i think im hitting the deadline.
Jewlery- I am wearing jewlery i either already own, or that was passed down from my grandmother. I am not a jewlery kind of person though.
Wedding Bands: I had my wedding bands before we had a date. I have been looking every time i go in to have my ring inspected, and the saleswoman told us about a one day sale that they were having, but we would have to order the rings so they would be in. we both fell in love with the rings, and we got a great deal for them.

My timeline is/was a little whacked because we’ll only have about 4 months from engagement to wedding. I bought my shoes first, even before my dress but got them on Zappos in case I changed my mind.
My wedding band should be here next week, and we haven’t ordered his yet, though we did pick it out.
Jewelry I think I’m wearing things I already own.
The best advice is – once you buy something – STOP LOOKING! It will help you keep your sanity and budget in check 🙂

I bought my shoes about 5 months beforehand. I haven’t gotten anything else… I have 3 months left 🙂

I actually bought my shoes almost a year before I bought my dress, then a 2nd dress and now am having a 3rd dress made because neither of the other two will work…I think as long as theyre fairly simple, versatile shoes then it’s never to early to start looking, but as others have written I’d probably start shopping as soon as you have your dress picked out.
I just bought my bracelet and hair accesories about a month ago (though I picked out the hair accesories last December. We both ordered our wedding bands last month – mine took a couple weeks to come in and be resized…his took about a week, but we had to return it for a half size smaller so it should be here any day.
@thewheelsonthebus: Great advice – once you find something you love, stop shopping.
I would also add that if you start shopping earlier, then you can be really picky – if you’re not sure that you’ll love it in a few months then you probably shouldnt buy it…starting the search early means you wont have to settle for something you dont absolutely love 🙂

Jewelry I bought early and changed my mind! I kept the bracelet I originally bought to wear at the rehearsal dinner and sold the necklace and earrings, opting instead to wear my mothers pearls. I also bought the headband and changed my mind on that, opting for one that had pearls to match the jewelry.
Shoes I bought about 10 months in advance and I wore them on my wedding day 🙂 I also had a backup pair of flats but ended up not wearing them because my dress was hemmed for 4 inch heels.
Wedding Bands We ordered about 2 1/2 months before the wedding

– jewellery: December. My mum bought my earrings and bracelet for my 30th birthday present.

– other (please explain): Garter bought in March.

Garter– I actually bought mine in October!
Jewelry-right after I bought my dress (January) I got earrings, a hair comb and a bracelet.
Shoes– STILL on the hunt. Made an impulse buy, but the heels were too large.
Wedding Bands-I have mine on lay-away… Fi still hasn’t found his. Eep!

Just bought our wedding bands yesterday, although Fiance is changing his mind now.
Bought my shoes just a week before my first fitting. First fitting was 3 months before the big day.
Jewelry was bought with my dress as well as my veil. I did change my mind about my veil and I was fortunately that the manager at David’s let me switch it out but don’t count on that. I have some borrowed hair accessories (woo hoo something borrowed!) so I don’t need to worry about buying those, unless I hate them at my hair and makeup trial.

Jewelry (including tiara), dress, and wedding bands have been bought. Our wedding isn’t until next year.
Garter will be made this year…. sometime. 😉 Kids’ costumes will be bought in Feb. of next year, including my daughter’s accessories (tiara, jewelry…. she’ll be 5, so she’s gonna want to be like mommy, lol).
Of course, we also used our tax return, too, so that made a difference.

shoes- ordered them over the weekend! $10!
wedding band- bought it a month ago…!
I also bought my dress like 2 months ago =) I just like to have things out of the way so I don’t have to think wedding at all this summer!
