My wedding is March 28, 2015. I found a dress on Mod Cloth that is currently marked “Coming Soon” meaning it probably still has about a month to go before you can buy it. It is a great price and is EXACTLY what I was imagining. However, I am hesitant to even say anything to my girls for fear that they will think it is way too soon to purchase a BM dress.
Im sure I could find something else if I do wait, but then I started thinking… well they may need alterations so it would be good to have them early.
How many months til your wedding did you have when you ordered? Anyone order from ModCloth before that can share experiences?

CallMeMrsG: My girls ordered by the end of March, my wedding is in July.
But we did Davids Bridal.

I think my girls ordered about 4 months before. They wouldn’t order any earlier.

CallMeMrsG: The farthest away I’ve ordered a dress as a BM was 7 months. But that’s because David’s Bridal told the bride that they’d take a while to come in…they (all 10 of them lol) came in 3 weeks. How many BMs are you having? I haven’t ordered from Modcloth in a while, do you know how often they sell out of dresses?

We ordered their dress 11 months out, but that was only because some of them were out of town, and they all wanted to help pick the dresses out and that was the only time all of us could go shopping. They took about 6 monthes to come in. Warehouse stores like David’s bridal can get dresses in fast, but for other bridal shops they recommend ordering 6 months out.
They discontinue dresses all the time though, so I’d talk to your girls. If they have the money now, then why not?

- Wedding: May 2014 - Madison, WI
My girls ordered their dresses in August 2013 for my May 2014 wedding. It was early, but one bridesmaid was leaving the country until December for Christmas and then again after that until the wedding. This way she was able to order, try on over Christmas, and get it altered right before the wedding.
All the girls wanted to go together so we went at the same time, they all felt comfortable ordering then at the same time. However, one cousin of mine lost a lot of weight before the wedding and did end up paying $100 in alterations to have her dress taken in about 3 sizes.

I ordered my BM dress for my best friend’s wedding in early January, and they still haven’t come in for a late July wedding. I think they’re supposed to get here in a couple weeks though. This was at a bridal shop (we got a discount bc it’s where she bought her dress).
I’ve ordered things from Modcloth – the shipping is pretty standard, like about a week to get something.

- Wedding: October 2017 - Baton Rouge, LA
CallMeMrsG: im getting married March 21, 2015 & last friday i took my BMs to a bridal store to pick out the styles they want. It was the only time for this entire summer all 4 of them could get together at the same time lol i told them they dont have to worry ab ordering til September/October though. I worry about the holidays slowing down production, so figure thatll be plenty of time. Go ahead & tell the girls! esp if you already know the price so they can prepare for that.

My wedding is in October, and we ordered the BM dresses in April (I got engaged in February). They said that they’ll be in, in August.

CallMeMrsG: My BM ordered 7 months out, they arrived in 4.
I would be cautious to ordering too soon because a lot can happen if you order too far out (Ex. Pregnancy or major weight loss)
