    I'm kind of annoyed because I had my OB visit last week I was 14 weeks and 7 days at the time so nearly 15 weeks and my OB said I could go ahead and get my spina bifida screen done. Because I also had protein in my urine they decided that since they were already taking my blood anyway they would take extra test for other things, but anyway I got a call today saying that the spinda bifida test was inconclusive because the lab says its too early to tell so they want me to come back in a week to do that test again.  I just dont get why they would take my blood to run a test if they know I should be further along to get clear results.

    Has anyone had this test done at 14 weeks adn 7 days as well?

    I didn't have mine until 20 weeks along, when they did the in-depth ultrasound.

    I just had an ultrasound at 20 weeks.  No bloodwork.

    @bells:

    That is frustrating! As if they don't take enough blood from us already!

    @bells: Nope, no bloodwork at 20 weeks. They took close up frames to check for spina bifida, any other abnormalities, they measured her head, they checked her arms and legs, they took tons of pics and sent them to my doctor for analysis. He called me a couple of days later and told me that everything looked good and she was developing right on schedule, and that was that! I also found out her sex at that appointment.

    Maybe it was for downs syndrome. I know that one is really specific in timing the test with gestational age.

    Weird, because I already did my down syndrome tests at 11 weeks and already got my results back for that. I see online that not all OBs do do blood work for spina bifida, so thats probably why it seems unusual.

    And yep they already do take far too much blood from me!! lol
