for the last couple months, i have been thinking seriously about cutting my hair. My hair is long (mid back) and has always been long. I know I want it longish for the wedding, since that is my usual “look” and i want to have enough hair to do any hair style i choose. i was talking with a friend and she said anything shoulder length or longer should be more than enough to make any up-do work.
i am considering something that would hit just below my shoulders, probably hacking off a good 5 inches. my wedding is 14 months away and i would say my hair grows at an average rate…what should i do?
when did you all get your last hair cut in relation to your big day? would you make a big hair change close-ish to your wedding?

I actually did make a huge change the week before my wedding. I had been growing it out from the moment I was engaged, but then I decided I didn’t like any of the up-do I had seen with my dress, but I also didn’t want to leave my stick-straight hair long and down. So, I cut it off to a little above my shoulders, and loved it!
I’d say 14 months out, you’ve got plenty of time! Go ahead and cut it as short as you want, and do a dry-run to be sure you can do an up-do with it. If you don’t, you’ve got plenty of time for it to grow back!

I just kept trimming my hair like normal, keeping the length. I got my last trim the week before my wedding. I’m horrible, I KNOW! My hair stylist was so mad at me, she told me not to do anything a month before “just in case”. She was sooo nervous to do any cutting on my hair because it wouldn’t grow back in just one week. But I’ve been going to her for years so I totally trusted her and my hair looked great 🙂

I got a trim about four weeks before the wedding.

If by cut you mean trim, I’m getting one of those next week and my wedding is a month and a half away. Getting regular trims is an important part of keeping your hair healthy. Healthy hair is easier to style and looks better in general.

The last time I got my hair cut was during this past summer. I haven’t touched it since and don’t plan to before the wedding. Part of me really wants to because my hair is so much more curly when it’s cut/layered.

No serious cuts until after the wedding. I really can’t wait to go back to my shoulder length hair.

No serious cuts from about a year before the wedding for me (a few trims).
