Mrs. Gremmlin:  both my babies slept in their crib from the first night home from the hospital. I must say they looked awfully tiny in there, but the upside was no transition was necessary.

Mrs. Gremmlin:  Do you swaddle? That might make her feel more comfortable in the big open crib. Our daughter slept in our room for 3 months, naps in the bouncer or swing. At 3 months I put her down for naps in her crib in her bedroom with white noise, swaddled up tight. After a few weeks we moved her in for night time. Her first night in her crib she slept 12 hours straight and never looked back! Good luck!

We switched DS around 4 months, when sleep in our room started going downhill.

He did really well the first night, and then put up a bit of a fight. I’d say the transition took about a week.

3.5 months, but it was a transition period.  At first, whenever he cried,  I’d bring him back in our room. After a few days, I would settle him once before I brought him in.  A few days later, I’d do it twice. Over a few weeks, he’d wake up less and less, sleep for longer in between, and I’d settle him more times before I’d bring him back to our room. I’d say after 3 weeks, he slept through the night in his crib and has ever since.

9 months, she co-slept with me until then. I did do a little cry it out, but after 3 night she slept fine on her own

My son was 7 weeks early so the first 4 weeks he was in the NICU once we got home he was in his craddle for 2 to 3 months . The first month the cradle was in our room. After that he got moved to his room in the cradle, we moved him to his crib about at 4 months.

My DD1 was 3 months old when she went in her room – no probs with her she used to sleep from 5pm-9am!

My DS was 8months and didn’t take to a crib so well so we put him in a toddler bed with bed guards and was fine – he still wakes in the night still and he’s 18 months.

My DD2 likesroutine Will not sleep unless she’s swaddled so we put her basket inside the cot and that has helped. She is 4 months and sleep 8pm-7:30am!

Anytime to the crib itself, but studies show that having the baby in the same room  reduces the risk of SIDS up to 50%.  I have no idea why that seems to be  a controversial statement, but on a recent thread it was.  I used a bassinet for four months.

My son slept in his own crib in his own room from day one. He never woke through the night. I would have to go wake him.

My DD is 5 days old and has been sleeping in her crib since we got home from the hospital. We have a basinet in our room, but I had a C-Section and can’t really feed her in bed. I have to go sit in the glider in the nursery, so I just decided to keep her in there.
