@rmrsln2010:  I was always told 3-4 months before, depending on when you’re getting married. My wedding is in March, so I’m trying to decide if I should send them at the beginning of December or wait until January.

I sent them 2 months in advance. Plenty of time, since I sent save the dates also.

@rmrsln2010:  We’re sending ours out at the beginning of May for our mid-August wedding (expecting a few weeks for delivery to everyone). We sent out STDs mid-September.

We are sending them right now! So that 2 1/2 months before the wedding and 2 months before our venue requires the final payment and RSVP count to be due.

@SouthernGirl:  my wedding is in March also (30th) and i’m afraid if i send them out around the holidays, they will be confused with christmas cards. i’d rather send them out with 3 months to go, but that would be sending them during peak holiday cardness so i’m going to wait until early january. is this something you considered also, or am i a crazy person for even thinking people will throw out my invites because they think its something else?

@McBezel:  You’re not crazy. My stepdad threw out a wedding invitation that my parents got around Christmas, which is why I’m leaning more towards January myself.

We’re doing StDs at the beginning of January, our OOT invites mid May, and local invites beginning of June.

We sent out our save the dates 8 months before, a lot of the guests are traveling, and we plan to send our invitations out 12 weeks before the wedding.

There is a huge soccer tournament in town the same weekend as our wedding so we want our guests to book their hotel rooms as early as possible!

@SouthernGirl:  Crap! Really?!  I was thinking of sending out end of December for a mid March wedding. Is that really dumb?  My stupid hotel block would only hold until 2 months prior to weddig so i felt like I really needed to send out the invites a little early.  I dont want them o get tossed though!!

@Eradicatereality:  I would say that you should probably send them out more towards the beginning of December just to be safe.
