We sent our save the dates in December for our July wedding. We included our date, city, and wedding website which gave more information to our guests if they wanted to look it up. We sent our actual invitations the last week of April which is kind of early but we have alot of out of town guests and I was anxious to see who is coming!

I’m sending mine out ~10 months in advance as our wedding will be over Memorial Day weekend in 2015. We have a ton of out of town guests so we just want to give everyone a heads up before they start making other plans!

Sent Save the Dates in February for our August wedding, so about six months prior. I just put our invitations in the mail this morning, and we’re 71 days out from the big day!

We have about 50 invites out of 140 who are out of town. They were simple postcards with the location (just the city, not the venue), the date, and a link to the wedding website. Great way to show off the engagement photos, too! Tbh, I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted to do save the dates or just spread the word by phone/email because of the extra $$. However, people really seemed to love them so I’m glad we did!

Our wedding is probably going to be 50/50 localish/out-of-town guests, so we’re planning on November 2014 for a May 2015 wedding. And in magnet form, so it’s in their faces 😉

rachel85:  I wanted to do magnets for the same reason but ended up deciding to do it online. I figured who really wants to come will come anyway. We are doing it for free and hopefully spending that money on prettier invitations. I hope so at least! Magnets are a great idea though!

We sent out STDs about a year in advance, but we had a lot of international guests so we wanted them to have time to plan their flights and take time off etc.

We were between online or magnet too, but went with magnet – The Save the Date magnets were a lifesaver since a lot of people in my circle are getting married. A lot of our friends (esp the male ones haha) thanked us for giving them something they wouldn’t lose or misplace.

    • Wedding: September 2014

I sent the save the dates for my September wedding back in March- 6 months in advance, since our location was semi-destination, 2-3 hours away for most family and for some family members they would be travelling up to 8 hours to attend.

Plus since it is at all in one location- cermeony, reception and accomodations. I had to leave time for people to save up money for their accomodations. I just updated my wedding website with that information and did not include it on the physical save the date
