We didn’t start setting up until after the shower, which was when I was about 32 weeks, maybe 33.

We painted when I was 28 weeks or so, although we had a lot of our furniture in boxes around 22 weeks, but didn’t set anything up until we cleared out the room and painted.  We put together furniture over the next few weeks, so by 32 weeks, the essentials were there.  After the showers (34-35 weeks), we added other touches.  So you’re definitely not behind.  But I don’t think it’s too early to start looking at things online/craigslist to start figuring out what you want.

I set up with my first son around 30 weeks. I am 35 weeks now with second and haven’t lol.  I should…just incase. Maybe next weekend.

@roweboat:  We cleared out the room (it was previously a guest bedroom) after the first trimester. We bought a crib and crib set sometime around 20 weeks and put that together, but that’s it.

We’ve visualized and planned where we’re going to put things, but none of that will be happening until after my shower (I’ll be between 34-35 weeks along).

LOL oh dear you have plenty of time!!

I am totally doing the “if we have to rearrange we might as well go through and get rid of stuff” personally. So I’m totally doing some organizing even though our hose is pretty organized.

I am already ready to sell the guest room furniture on CL so we can start putting stuff in there. So I know how you feel!

30+.  I’m not doing any painting though.

If you have a lot to do (painting, decluttering, etc) I think around 20-25 weeks is best because it’s after the anatomy scan and you’re still feeling pretty good.

I probably wouldn’t get everything really set up until after the shower.

I don’t think you’re behind, I would think you were ahead if you already had it done.

@roweboat:  We cleared out the office stuff (the nursery had been an office and storage space–basically a really unorganized, half-packed-from-the-last-move room) the weekend before the shower so we’d have the space to bring things into. We got our crib as a shower gift, so there was no reason to do anything before that.

We moved when I was 34 weeks pregnant, so I set it up weeks 34-36!

It’s pretty much done now.

Ours wasn’t set up until I was 35-36 weeks.  We ordered the furniture when I was around 20 weeks though and it didn’t come in until I was about 34 weeks so that’s why we waited

I am only 10 weeks today so I have a while! We are flying down to Socal in April and driving up with the furniture that my aunt and uncle have for us so we will probably start setting up then.

At this point we are going through all the stuff that is in our third bedroom to clear it out and get it ready.

We cleared it out around 20 weeks, painted at 26 weeks. I’m almost 30 weeks, and we just built the crib and have started things like putting up the curtains and closet shelves. My DH works every other weekend, so I feel like we don’t have as much time to get things done.

I’m glad we got started early because I want to help with some of the annoying tasks (like installing base boards), and am already feeling uncomfortable. So I may be just a cheerleader for some of the final touches =D
