I waited till after the first trimester when the danger of miscarriage lessens.

With the exception of a few small purchases, we waited until after the first trimester, too.  More came after we knew the gender, although we are trying to go gender-neutral on the big ticket items.

My family doesn’t like to buy anything for a baby until after it’s born.  So, I might pick up a carseat, but even that we may just borrow and get the stuff we need after it’s here.  Usually people have things they’ve picked up “for possible future showers”, and the parents have a fairly detailed list of specific items to get, but others go out and physically buy them.

I’m 13 weeks along and don’t plan on actively buying things until we know the gender. I’ve bought a few things so far (Oriole’s bib and onesie and a Kate Spade diaper bag that was on sale).  My mom bought me an ear/forehead thermometer as one of my Christmas gifts, too.  Other than that, I’ve managed to behave myself.  It’s hard though!

At 26 weeks I’ve bought a few outfits and a couple books for the baby. My family is throwing me a shower in 2 weeks when I go home for a visit, so once I get back after that I will make purchases. I’m figuring this baby would like a place to sleep!! It is hard to not buy things, but I think this baby is going to get pretty spoiled from my family and I don’t want to have to deal with duplicates and returning items.

I’m 21 weeks tomorrow and we’ve barely even started getting ready. 🙂

We’ve registered and we’re going to start cleaning out our disaster of a spare bedroom soon so we can paint and begin to make it a nursery. We haven’t bought anything major yet. A few outfits and a glider & ottoman I found for super cheap on Craigslist. Otherwise, totally unprepared as of right now!

I purchased a few outfits in the beginning, but only because they were on clearance. You could start researching things you want now, like what carseat, stroller, etc. I’d just do some online reading in the mean time.

We didn’t purchase furniture or anything until after 20 weeks. I would consider purchasing earlier only if I found excellent deals or if things were given to me from someone.

We started early.  We are on a tight budget, and purchasing new wasn’t really an option for us. We started with a crib, pack n play and bouncy seat at about 10 weeks (all hand me downs from my sister).  Now at 25 weeks, we have crib, changing table, pack n play, high chair, glider, travel system, bassinet, sheets, 20ish pieces of newborn/0-3M clothes, some cloth diapers, bibs, hats etc.  Everything was bought used either in a thrift store of off craigslist except for the travel system which was an early Christmas present from the in laws, and a few onesies we got for Christmas.  If we had to buy everything at once towards the end of pregnancy, it would have  been a struggle money wise (we got some really great deals on the pieces we bought used).  and I would have been totally overwhelmed by setting up and sorting out everything.

I didn’t really start buying anything or setting up anything in the nursery until 25 weeks.  We did start registering at about 20 weeks though. Other than furniture, diapers (on sale) and a little clothes, I still haven’t bought much (I’m 30 weeks) because I have a shower in a few weeks. After the shower, we will start buying the rest.

I’m almost 16 weeks and we’ve gotten a few things. We’re getting all the big stuff (crib, play pen, high chair, change table) from my sister. I’m starting to buy cloth diapers and am picking up cute gender neutral clothing on sale. We don’t move into our house for another 2 months or so, so we’re really restricted on space. I, ll probably start looking at all the other stuff we’ll need in early April once we’re back from vacation and unpacked in thebrew house.

The one big thing that we did already buy was our travel system because it was on sale and was the only one we had agreed on

I am going to shoot to wait until 18 weeks when I get KU. I’m sooo superstitious!

I am almost 15 weeks and we have the stroller (ordered on sale onlne) and this weekend we picked up a change mat and a cot matress protector as they were 60% off.

Our parents got us a few outfits (all white) MIL knitted some booties, my Mum knitted a jersey, and SIL got us a few baby products for Christmas.  We also have the basinette already, its one that my Dad made before my older sister was born and my sisters and I all slept in it for the first few months of our lives and our baby will too.

We will get more once we find out the gender and can get started on the nursery!

I bought a couple small things in the first trimester, just  random cute baby things I saw in TJ Maxx – a baby blanket/plushie, bath toys, hooded bath towel, hand/foot rattles, plastic storage bins to keep clothes in, etc. We only have a 1BR townhome so we don’t have a nursery to buy for, which makes things easier. My SIL bought us a few things like wipes, pacifiers, bath essentials, and a few neutral onesies.

I plan on getting the bulk of it in the spring (baby due in early June) or at least once I find out the sex in January. I already started a registry to keep track of which items I researched and decided on which I want.
